Topic: Support Group South of the River?
Hi,
I was wondering if there was a "relaxed, informal" support group (or other) south of the river. Fairview Southdale has theirs at 6pm which is not a good time for me.
If anyone knows of other options I'd really like to start attending one.
Thanks for any help!

OK- I went to the enell site and used the store locator- there are some here! And, I didn't know there was a Title 9 store here- their catalogs have a great sports bra selection, hopefully the store will too! Yay!
Here's the link to local stores:

Good Q! I've never seen Enell in stores, but then again, maybe I never really looked! I'm unfamiliar with the other brand. I wonder if Nordstrom could help- I went for a fitting there recently- needed a strapless for vacation and had no idea what size to get. I am still really busty- saggy with loose skin, but busty. :) This little old lady man-handled me into the perfect fit. Once I got over her putting me directly into the bras herself
it was all good. I'd go back. Also, I wonder- there's an Athleta at 50th and France- they might have a decent selection and people to help. Better than a regular sporting goods store I'd guess- tailored for women.
Good luck! If you find Enell in town let me know... not having a decent sprorts bra is one of my lame excuses for not upping my exercise intensity...

I am sad to hear that you seem to have given up. As long as you are alive, you should fight to STAY alive! Isn't that why you had WLS in the first place?
You said you want people to never have this surgery. With all the issues you have had, I can understand where that came from - but I don't think you should be discouraging people because of your cir****tances. You are the exception, not the rule. Yes, there are people who have issues post WLS that appear to be relative to their WLS. There are a great many others, like myself, who would have this surgery annually if that's what it took to maintain the success, health and happiness the weight loss has brought us.
In the 5 + years I have been involved in the WLS community through research, having my own RNY, and being active in support groups both formal and informal, it is MY perception that the people who struggle with health issues post op fall into one of two categories -
A) They blame their health issues on their WLS, even if they are medically unrelated
B) They are suffering some form of malnutrition because they have not been diligent in taking their vitamins as prescribed by their bariatric program.
I think you need to consider both of those possibilities. And if, after being examined by this new PCP on Monday, you can truly claim that neither applies to you, then I apologize for my comments. I don't mean to sound cold.
Regardless of the facts, I will pray for you.

You are dealing with the a governmental institution. You just have to let the wheels churn at their own pace.
You can do two things that will help you in your quest.
1. Let the frustration go, that self induced stress won't help your eating habits.
2. Start practicing for you new life. take a look at your surgeons guidelines and apply now what you will need later. Up your water intake, don't drink near/with meals. Start a journal so you can see what your calorie intake and protein/carb/calorie balance is.
Just don't wait for tomorrow to do positive things for yourself. The "tomorrow" diet never works.

UPDATE!
I broke my femur, knee and wrist from takinf 2 step just walking.
During the hospital they found me severly anemic, potassium way below acceptable, and a tiny fragile woman who had spiral and icicle like fractures and so thin I have skin hanging from my ankles, excess.
Anyway, they would not take a no for answer and set an appointment for Mayo for a possible reversal, they even went as far and gave me a new PCP because they said I cant wait until March 23 to see the old one. Monday I see my new one. No Wednesday. Pray I make it!!
I can feel my Potassium and BP drop, it makes me want to die and feels like I am. I have a will, living will...I am going to be starting a Generation quilt. For my kids. My time is shortened on this earth, I have been told that.
I am OK with it though I hope to get enough time to go to remarry the man who has stood by my side through this and never hit me or abused me like the man I married and he killed himself.
I want people to never have this surgery. We cant absorb...doctors in all fields are still too clueles on this.
So another surgey to go, and Lord if I make it...I will not stop..I will continue to leave a legacy of some kind for my kids, I want to be known.
All I ever wanted was love and acceptance. I will get that in heaven. Pray..Please!
God is good!
I pray for time and streength to make it through this, though I am so so weak!
Many Blessings!
Angel

Oh, and I'm really looking for some lightweight clothes for Vegas in a couple of weeks, so if anyone has any Large summery shirts, or size 10P pants/jeans/capris/shorts, that they need to get rid of, I could really use them :)
