If you did, how did you like them? Right now, I am just checking into the different options. Want to research them as much as possible.

I am having surgery Monday the 20th with Hoehn. I think he's great. (see my other reply to your other question.) There is also a Dr. Harlan Opie in Olathe, KS at Olathe Medical Center. They seem to have a great follow up program but UHC did not cover that hospital for my plan. Yours may be different. And Dr. Brent Steward is in Topeka, KS at Tallgrass medical Center. He is a fabulous guy. His was the first WLS seminar I ever attended. I loved him. He is so compassionate to the needs of the obese. However I didn't know enough to request a surgoen and ended up with one of his partners. And while she is completely capable I didn't mesh well with her and decided to have surgery elsewhere with a different surgeon. Hope this helps.

I have not used them, however they are who my insurance uses. So I called their office yesterday, listened to the recording and went to their website. Have you been there? It's www.kcbariatric.com I also signed up for their seminar next Tue the 21st at 7pm at Shawnee Mission Hosp. BUT personally the more I thinkabout it, the more scared I get, and think I will get back to excersizing while I think...It sure helped me before!! (IM so scared to be put to sleep) as crazy as it sounds I guess...but I had a Csec and was awake...why cant they do that? I wanted the lapband but then again, didnt know if I wanted a piece of plastic tubing in me forever???? Talk to yah soon..good luck!~Chantay

You are so right to check all your options....it's the only way to go! I had UHC and they were wonderful to work with. I never got any bills except the co-pays and it was smooth. I also used Dr. Hoehn and never thought twice about him after I made my choice. I had originally been to a meeting with a dr. at Truman Med and was NOT impressed. In fact, I was so ready to get out of there. But Dr. Hoehn's seminar was very different. And the seminar is the first step...you have to go to that first. It answers so many questions...especially about the way he does the surgery...his success rates etc. It helped my husband come to grips with what I had decided to do. He felt completely at peace after the seminar. I think the reason I have been so impressed with Dr. Hoehn is his thoroughness. He doesn't just ship you in and ship you out. You see heart docs, lung docs, head docs, dieticians, physical therapists and you know exactly what you are getting into. He also has monthly support group meetings and they have helped me tons. He trained with the dr in California who pioneered this procedure and has had huge successes. As you can see, I can't say enough good things. But I do want you to know, they are super busy and sometimes they may seem like they are too busy. But they really do care. His office staff is super nice and super efficient. If they have an answer or question, they call. If they don't have any info, they won't. Just be patient, fill out the paper work that you will get at the seminar, and let them take over. They get the job done. Best wishes and I hope my windy note didn't bore you to sleep! Peggy

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am looking into attending seminars right now with different doctors.
