Topic: Update on the "new addition"
Well for those who are wondering about pregnancy after Roux en Y, I am here to tell you...my experience went well.
My "new man," Jace, was born April 15, 2011. He was a whopping 9 lbs 14 oz and 21 inches long (an exact pound bigger than my biggest baby pre-bypass). No problems throughout pregnancy other than the development of a real sensitivity to ANY sugar I ate (is still staying with me, which is good because I was able to "get away with" eating sugar after bypass, but not now so it will keep me in check). I gained a lot less than with my three girls, but still around the maximum of recommended weight gain. He was actually two days overdue and induced. He himself gained 14 ounces in one week being breastfed so he is very healthy.
I was worried about how things would go, but all in all they went fine. I will try to post pics at a later time. Hope everyone else is well.

Topic: RE: Support groups in or around Rolla?
I think there's one in Fort Leonard Wood area. Check previous postings on Missouri Board.
Good wishes on your surgery and try to find a group. It is one of the best things you can do to insure your success.
Hugs,
Lana

Hi Lisa, Welcome. My name is Cecelia and I actually live in St Louis, but am originally from Joplin, Mo. I actually was going to have my surgery in Joplin, because I wanted to have the MGB(Mini gastric bypass) and the doctor down there is great. His name is DavidHargroder. His office in on Maiden Lane across from St John's hospital. That group has support meetings monthly and you can call his office for dates and times. I was on their mailing lists for quite a while and once I decided to have surgery here (due to insurance requirements and Dr. Hargroder does not take insurances, but only charges around $17,000 inclusive of hospital)---anyway I dropped off their list.
They are very friendly group and I am sure would welcome a newcomer to town.
I will actually be in Joplin this month to visit my siblings. So keep me posted on how you are doing -- maybe I can help with something.

Topic: RE: Support groups in St. Louis and surrounding area's?
DePaul's support group meets 3rd Wed. of each month, 5:30 in the May center. St Clare Hosp meets 4th Thursday of the month --also at 5:30 pm. In a conference room. They can tell you at the reception desk exactly how to get to the room/ I do not know about any other support groups. The DePaul and St Clare surgeon really encourages support groups to his patients.
Where is your surgery and who is your doctor? They may have a group meeting at your hospital.
