Topic: It's been a long time
I haven't been on here for a long time. I had surgery in August of 08 and have gone from 330 to 175. I'd like to lose about 10 more pounds, but I don't know if that will happen or not. I've been stuck at 175 for a long time. I'm ok with where I am, but still it would be nice to see 165.

I've come back to try and gain some accountability for myself. Until this past week I had stopped taking my vitamins for a long time. I just this week started taking them regularly again and boy can I feel a difference. I'm not exhausted any more and am sleeping better at night. I know that was a really bad decision. The reason I stopped taking them was that I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have had to start taking a lot of prescription meds and it took me a while to get into the groove of taking them so the vitamins took a back burner. Bad decision I know.

I also need to focus on protein again. I've not been keeping track of how much I get and haven't been eating it first at meals. Now that I'm regularly taking vitamins again, my next goal is to get that 60 to 80 grams of protein. Then I will move on to getting more exercise because right now I'm getting none. The reason for that is that I just got divorced and am taking care of my 3 young children and am having trouble finding the time to exercise while working full time and being a single mom. I know I will find the time though. Even if it's just 15 minutes.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and tell everyone hi. I remember some of you and see that there are quite a few new faces. I need to update my profile really badly, but will have to wait until I have time to do so.
Thanks for reading.

Well Jan it was 68 and sunny at my house today. Not to bad I would say. I hear the next two days will be even better. The old farmers almanac says the 24th we will get hit hard with snow. I guess we will see how good they are.

I am fighting a battle with weight gain here. I can't seem to get it under control. It has to stop. I bought some of those shape up shoes today. Maybe moving more will help.

Prayers are going out to those hurting. We are thinking of you even if you can't be with us.

Everyone of us has problems, thats why we needed to have the surgery to begin with. You have to look for any small positives in your life. Money won't stop your problems. Just know we understand and want to help if we can.  I will say a prayer for you.

Call this doctor and ask to talk to the person that does the support meetings.  Last I heard they were going to holding them as far down as St. Claire.  It will be great for you and you will be able to meet real people who can relate to the same problems that you are having.  In the meantime, like someone said above. Stop and start all over just like at the beginning. Liquid protein, water, 64 oz.  sip, sip, sip. no grazing, nothing else.  Slowly add in what ever your doctor had you add in next, baby steps.  Watch those portions.  If your doctor said no soda, then no soda.

You can do this!  You are a very strong person! Look how far you have come and with some work you can get right back on track.

Susie,
"Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again." Don't be afraid to admit you are human. As you've said, we didn't get to the point of needing surgery because we were superwomen with amazing self control. Do the very best you can every day. Take your vitamins, force protein, drink lots of water, tea or Crystal Lite to wash out the waste from fat cells.
If you need a snack try beef jerky or cottage cheese or count out a few pretzels if you must. None of us is "good" all the time but the trick is to be good way more than bad. You are tough, you had RNY, so I know you can do this. I'll pray for you.
Hugs,
Lana

HI, Jan....and everyone else. I haven't posted on here in so long! I am so sorry to read of everyones troubles, Bec, Brenda, and a few others ,some I don't know. I'll give a short update (could turn long...who knows lol) MY weight grrrr. I got down to 196 (from 399) I was soo HAPPY!!  but it just crept right back up to 211, I  was 230 when they removed the 12 lb.s of tummy tuck skin, then within a month I got down to my low of 196, but it seems like a few others on here, I have just been eating my way back, I noticed the other day that my size 7 undies are uncomfortable and I have to lay down to button size 12 (with stretch ) jean capris I wore last year...see i'm posting all this to be "accountable" , I am upset with myself!! and I KNOW what I HAVE to do, up the protein, and get off the damned sugar CRACK!!!!! I don't know why I can't give it up? for over a year I never touched 98% of sugar (maybe sm. amounts in food ,sauces etc) no cookies, candy , pie etc. Then one day I had just a few bites of a choc pie...it was so delicious, over the next day I finished the whole piece..then slowly just started with a piece here and there, 1 cookie, then 2 , now 4 or 5. It goes down (carb. sweets) so much easier than the good things. I heard so much bad about the lap band, but you never wear that out so to speak, my sister is a size 8 from a 26  and that was 3 years ago, she hasn't gained ANY weight back...wonder if I can get a band on top of the wls???  (I know i'm stupid) back again to the wls "rules"  if I had any will power to follow the "rules"....I never would of weighed 400 lb.s ..right? I know wls is a tool, but instead of a hand tool, i think I need a jack hammer sized tool!! lol, I say "lol" but I really am not lol, at all! Ok , enough with the pity party, i'm sorry, I know there are such horrible things going on here for everyone else, and Japan, my gosh! I need to get on my knees and thank the Lord for my blessings and protection. I do get on here a read once in ahwile, and those that ask, and some who don't , I do pray for, I just get embarrassed about my failure , and don't want to post, or change my weight loss (gain) ticker...dumb I know...much love and happiness to all! Susan
