I just found your post when I was searching for information about the Bathurst Clinic...in particular what specific type of surgery they do there. I cannot seem to find that anywhere online.
I got the call yesterday to go to the Bathurst clinic for an appointment on July 8 after what I guess was somewhere between 5-6 years on the waiting list. In that time I had not just been "waiting" though...in the past 3 years I managed to lose 70 lbs on my own, and then put it all back on again!
I had stopped waiting, really, and hadn't really given much thought to WLS recently, so the call threw me for a loop. Instead of being ecstatic I am feeling mostly confused, knowing this is my only chance probably and also having a lot of fears. I appreciated your post which mentions some of these fears about dealing with the emotional side of everything.
Colleen I'm from Miramichi, and my doctor is in Bathurst. I was on the list since October of '09. And to tell you the true, all this waiting is so worth it. I could not be more happy then I am right now:).

Thanks for your reply...I have so many questions...how it is determined whether you have Dr. Beausoleil or Dr. Savoie, for instance? I got a call to go to Bathurst so I assume I got Dr. Savoie but they told me SO little on the phone when they called...one thing in particular I would like to know so that I can do some research is what type(s) of surgery Dr. Savoie does in Bathurst.
hi colleen my name is chris I waited close to 5 years I had my surgery I had it on april 8th this year and it was the best thing I did for my self and my family I was dietbetic but now off all my meds and I'm down 81 pounds so far I had the sleeve done that is what most people are having done this surgery is when they remove half the stomach and its the size of a banana. they give you the choice of three the lap band is reverable but not the sleeve I eat about a cup of food per meal and I'm allways full they will tell you all of your chooses when you go to the all day course I had DR bousleau in Moncton he is awesome doctor and so is all of his staff. If you have any question just ask I and others in this group will be happy to help.

I got my call a year ago end march. It was four and a half years after my referral went in. I am still waiting for my surgery. I called admissions and they are booked up til the end of July. So if it's October when I have the surgery, it will be six years. I didn't see which doctor you are going to. I'm waiting for dr beausoleil in Moncton. From the first appt to the per booking it is so long. And the doctor will tell you it'll be about four months. He tries to be optimistic, but it makes it harder for us! Just hang tight and it'll go by quick!
... but I would say at least six years. Just out of the blue, yesterday. And now I have an appointment for screening on July 8. I honestly didn't even know if I was still on the list or if there even was still a list. Just wondering how long others waited between being placed on the list and getting called for screening?
May I ask how long ago you were put on the waiting list? I honestly don't remember, I am just estimating 6 years for me.
Hi. I got a call yesterday out of the blue after being put on the waiting list probably around 6 years ago! Since then I have lost and regained significant amounts of weight twice, and I honestly didn't even know if the waiting list still existed, since I had heard that the clinic shut down at some point since then. Obviously it has re-opened. I had pretty much given up on the idea. I SHOULD be ecstatic but instead I find myself full of misgivings...it's been years since I did all the research on the various options and so now I will have to research it all over again. My appointment is July 8 and in the meantime I am very preoccupied with weighing the pros and cons of taking this huge leap!
