Insurance required diet
Hello, I have just started the "process" by seeing my primary doctor and as far as I know my insurance requires 6 months of doctor supervised dieting. My question is this, and I am sure this is a pretty common question: Should I try really really hard to lose as much weight as possible (as I have done so many times before) or is it just important for me to show "some" weight loss, just to show I can follow a plan? I am afraid if I do the diet "hog wild" as I know I can do, and really drop some pounds in 6 months, that the insurane company will say "she is doing great without surgery, we will not approve it". But, as I am sure you all know, the weight will just creep back on as it has every signle time in the past.. I just do not know how to approach this diet......please advise!!
Thanks!!
I too had to do 6 months of diet and exercise. What I did was I started out really good for 3 months then kinda went back into my old eating habits(like we all do). About 6 weeks before my six months were up I got serious again. As long as you have co-morbidities they shouldn't deny you just because you lost x amount of weight. Without the tool we always gain the weight back. You need to try to at least lose what your Dr. recommends for you to lose, because it makes the surgery so much easier on you and your Dr. Best of luck. If I can be of any help let me know. I am an RRT in the Bariatric Hospital in Edmond. If I can't answer your questions, I know someone who can.
