Sassy, I am praying for you. I had major orthopedic surgery last year a few months before I had my lap band.
I see the hand of God in your situation-if you had known about the upcoming back surgery, you might not have had the RNY-this way your weight loss has started and will continue, aiding your healing.
If possible, look into FMLA-it's family medical leave, and will protect your job while you heal. You are in for a rough year, physcially and mentally, but looking at it from a year out now, I know that the WLS helped the healing of my foot, which wasn't doing well at all before the surgery. I think the same will be true of your back.
Tell us how we can help you and boost your spirits.
Sassy - hang in there!! I had surgery on L5-S1 last August and a month later was in the hospital for a gastric bleeding ulcer! That trip was longer than the back surgery! We are with you and whatever has to be done, it will be done with the grace of God in your surgeon's hands. BIG HUGS!!!!
