I am planning on having surgery with Dr Walton soon.  Does anyone know what size bougie he uses?  Thanks for your help.  I know I should ask him, but since I just thought of this question tonight, i decided to post here.  Thanks again.

Sorry I can't help with answers to this question...  But, don't most doctors use size "32"?? You'll have to ask him to be sure...

Haven't heard from Dr. Walton yet. I will ask him when I go to work Thursday.

Becky, I e-mailed Dr. Walton and asked him. I don't expect an answer back real soon because I know he is in surgery all day today. Will let you know when I find out.

I have to ask, what is a bougie?

A bougie is the instrument the surgeon inserts into your stomach to form your new pouch.  The size of the bougie determines the size of your pouch.  Someone explained it to me that it is a "sizing tool" and the new stomach (or pouch) is formed around it.  Hope this helps

When I saw bougie size the first thing I thought was it was some pet name for the rear end! I'm so sophisticated and educated aren't I? sorry....I think I'm over tired...I get a little goofy when I'm tired I thought I did an exhaustive amount of research and I learned something new today. Good luck to you.  Dr. Walton is great. He wasn't my surgeon but he discharged me from the hospital  when I had my RNY and I was VERY impressed by his bedside manner and knowledge.  He's just wonderful. You are in good hands.
