I did it!
I was a little worried, as I have been at a business meeting the last three days with lots of food and booze around. I was doing my best to make all the right choices, but I was still afraid there would be some gain. I did actually take some time and go to the gymn at the hotel (my first time for that) and get my exercise in, so I guess it worked.
I talked with Dr. W again about the fact that even they don't believe that surgery is a great option, it's just the best one available at this time. He gave me one more warning about how this surgery is just a tool, and has to be used properly to acheive the proper results. (Somehow I doubt that I've heard the last of that one...
). I wrote my checks and got all of my instructions for what to do the next 11 days, so I guess it's really going to happen. I'm still a little nervous, but now that I got this weigh-in behind me, I do feel a bit relieved.
Anyhow, I'll be staying on my current pre-op diet until the day before surgery, and then going on clear liquids only for that day. Not too bad compared to some of the things I've seen on the OH boards... no liquid fast, no bowel cleansers, etc... My patient advocate did tell me to be sure and stay on my current diet, as they have cancelled two surgeries recently when someone showed up on the day of surgery and had gained weight back. I really don't have time for anything like that...
Anyhow, I"m counting down the days now - just wanted to share my good news with all of you.
Have a great day!
John CONGRATULATIONS John!!!! That's Wonderful! I'm so happy for you!
Your surgery will be here in no time!
I see my surgeon, Dr. Nelson, in just a couple of hours for my pre-op discussion for surgery next Tuesday. The last month has flown by!
At my pre-op orientation class, the nurse told us about a patient (no name of course, just the situation) who came in the morning of surgery. Said they had not eaten anything at all since midnight. Then, when the surgeons got in to do the surgery, they saw the *stomach* was FULL of food (before any cutting of the stomach, of course....just by seeing it with the lap camera)!!! They had to back out and I guess they rescheduled! I don't know what the person was thinking by eating the morning of surgery....that's terribly dangerous! Anesthesia would have never put them to sleep had they known.
Congrats again on making weight and getting your surgery soon!
