Two new things

Hey all, Just wanted to share a couple of things from today with you. This morning, I was up early working in the yard and trying to get the pool back under control after all the wind and storms this week.  I picked up two 40 pound bags of salt from the garage and started towards the pool with them.  About half way there I realized two things - first, those damned bags were HEAVY! and second - 80 pounds is almost exactly what I've lost since I started this trip on 12/27/07.  I used to be carrying the equivalent of those two bags of salt with me EVERYWHERE!  OMG - when I finally put them down I couldn't believe it.  If you haven't experienced this - you should try it.  Find something that is roughly equal to the weight you've lost and carry it around for a while. (For those well out from surgery, you may not even be able to pick up something equal to the weight you've lost - now there's something!)  It's shocking what we have put our bodies through and even more shocking how fast (relatively speaking) we can turn it around if we really set our mind to it. The second thing was that this evening, my 10 year old and I went to the theater (Spamalot) and I wore and outfit that I dragged out of my closet from about 10 years ago - and it fit and my wife said it looked good!  When we got there, I fit easily into my seat, did NOT rub up against the person on either side of me, and was able to cross my legs throughout most of the performance!  I'm thinking if it's that comfortable, I may look into season tickets!  We had a blast and I felt great the whole time! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!  My scale still hasn't moved, but for today at least, my Zen-like calm has returned, and I'm not worrying about it... it WILL move eventually. John

John, WOO HOO !!!!! Congratulations on your wow moments. I know exactly what your talking about. I've lost almost 2 elephant PENIS'S (they weigh 60 pounds each you know). Now, I'll tell you right now, I'm not going to pick those up and carry them around with me to see how that feels. I can only imagine, LOL LOL. I am so glad that I've lost those. The scale will move, I promise! You're doing super, keep it up buddy.

Rita,  I was totally rolling after reading your post.  My husband thought it was great too.  Sadly, I have not yet lost an elephant's penis worth of weight yet.    I'll let you know as soon as I do!  Seriously though, I've lost 39 lbs in about 2 months or so, which is great.  It's more than my 3 yr old weighs, and I can't imagine that I carried a little three year old on my body 24/7.  No wonder I huffed and puffed walking up stairs!   diana

Rita - do you still have that list?  I know I sent it to the girls at MMS a long time ago but I don't have it anymore.  Can you email it to me so I can do a little comparison??  LOL [email protected] Leave it to YOU to choose the elephant's penis reference though!  You are OH SO BAD!!  I love it!!!

John I know EXACTLY what you mean.  I can relate to your post almost to a T since you and I have both lost right around 80 pounds so far.  I put on a t-shirt the other day to visit with my mom and she replied that she had never seen that shirt before.  I told her I had bought the shirt 2 1/2 years ago.  She couldnt believe it.  As for carrying the weight, back when i was in high school I used to carry 2, 50 pounds bags of cattle cubes about an eight of a mile on my shoulders to feed some cows of ours every day.  I was talking to my older brother about how nearly that much weight used to be on my stomach (it wasnt back in high school but you know what I mean). All in all, we go through some very shocking and wonderful changes and such little things are so noticeable anymore.  Wow moments are truly incredible.

John - what an inspirational post.  I've lost a bag of kitty litter!  Almost the Sam's size!  This is the size that I avoid buying because it's too hard to use when it's new.  It does kind of put it all in perspective, doesn't it? I'm going to Spamalot this afternoon.  I'm really looking forward to it.  I'll bet HappyCat and I fit in our seats a lot better than we did last time! I'm also thrilled that you are relaxed about the stall.  Most people on the VSG site say that when they stall, they lose inches.  Are you measuring?  You should!  I wish I had done it pre-op. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this.  It is so encouraging for those of us who started this journey after you.  Congratulations on your new life! Kim

John, this encourages me in my decisions to do this!  They used to say in Weigh****chers....all 10 times I joined,  to look at a lb of fat and see what I had lost.... It's that realization that makes it all woth while.....This will even be better!!   I am sitting here wondering what prompted  the first person who actually measured an elephants penis, to do that???  I mean it's not something you would just think up to use in everyday conversations, however; I am using it when I reach my new penis goals! Oh heavens, I think I am coming out of my shell a bit! haha Sherry
