I have to admit here too that I fear the financing. I am wondering how hard it is to qualify for it?  When my husband left, he left me in a mess. It's better now, but it worries me so much that this could finally be my answer and then have it yanked from me...Does anyone know tf your credit has to be great or what the rules are on that? It is a shame when my insurance would cover the bypass, but not the sleeve. I'm afraid the bypass will be to hard on my heart, amd really, the choice I have decided on, is the sleeve.....of course that is the one that insurance wont cover...Has anyone talked the insurance company into covering it?

Turn your insurance problem over to the surgeon's office.  Those folks are experts at dealing with insurance companies.  I am hoping since Dr. Cirangle's 5 year study came out last week that favorably compared VSG to the RNY at 3 years that insurance companies will look on it more favorably.  Turn it over to the office staff. I don't know the qualifications for a medical loan.  I have heard it is easier since it is for medical care. Denise

I'm not sure about qualifying for a loan, but about 5 or 6 years ago, we used CareCredit for an emergency vet expense for one of our horses. They were great to work with, super easy approval at the time, and had 0% interest for 18 months. We were able to pay the loan in less than 18 months so we had absolutely NO interest. Our horse coliced and had intestinal  surgery and was hospitalized almost 2 weeks ... needless to say it was a BIG emergency vet bill. I can recommend CareCredit, although it's been several years since we used them.

I was speaking with my surgeon today about the LAPSF study and her feeling was that medicare will probably cover the VSG in two years time and many insurance companies will follow. Our insurance covered my sleeve. We have Federal Employee Program BC/BS. I know that several people have had their sleeve covered if their insurance covered other forms of WLS. They appealed and several were approved in the appeal process. I would certainly try to see if it could be covered by insurance before paying out of pocket. Good Luck!

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

For financing. if you have a credit score of 600 or better you have a better chance of getting a medical loan. the other option is to have someone cosign that has good credit. btw.. my sisters credit score was 598 and we didnt qualify because when they run your credit it cost you points so them running it cost me the loan. thier explination to that was well if your going to apply then you need to make sure your score is high enough to cover the inquiries. I am now waiting on financing from a famiily member.. and hoping he comes through with it.
