Has anyone had an ulcer?
Diana - slide back to full liquids - very bland - maybe some broth and protein drinks (I know-yuck) for at least a day - see if that doesn't stop things while you are waiting for your appointment. Cottage cheese, egg, basically your phase I foods. Chew chew chew and go very slowly. Keep track of everything - water included and how it makes you feel as you eat/drink. Pay attention to your body right now and we'll get you through this.
Call me if you need to - I'll PM you my cell.

Hi Diana,
If you believe you may have an ulcer it is very important that you get to your dr. right away.
In February of 2006, I was about 8 months post op and ended up in the hosptial for five days with a bleeding ulcer. I lost a lot of blood and had to be tranfused three times. I was extremely ill.
The thing is that I had absolutely no warning that anything was wrong until I threw up and there was some blood. I also began hemoraging out of by bottom. This literally came on over night and I was so weak that I needed to be carried into the er.
If you have an ulcer they will diagnose it conclusively by doing an endoscopy. After that you will be on three or four different meds for about 4-6 months to help you heal. You will also be quite fatigued for several months but you will come back to your previous energy levels. Just be sure to do exactly as the drs. instruct you to.
Please be sure to go to the dr. asap because if you do have an ulcer and have internal bleeding as I did you could possibly die from it.
Now go - GET TO YOUR DOC OR THE ER NOW!
Let me know how you come out.
Huggs,
Pam
You are all so wonderful! I promise I will call and reschedule again for tomorrow. and I'm officially back to the mushie stage till I see him. You all had really good advice. Now Robin and Ruth, I need to make sure you don't know where I live!!! lol. Seriously though, I'm trying to take care. That's why I posted even though I don't want to be the whiny baby. Hopefully it's nothing, but I will have myself get a tune-up w/ Dr. W to make sure. Pam, your reply really sealed it for me. I've been in similar scary situations and no way would I want this to be another one! Thank you all!!! Maybe I'll pop in to see you, Rita. It would be good to see a friendly face. I'll post again after I see Dr. W!
