I don't know what label and protein content I was thinking about at dinner tonight, but I was wrong! Eggbeaters original has 6 gms. of protein in 1/4 cup (one egg amount). Not 15! I guess I'm hallucinating protein in all kinds of things these days! ; )

On the subject of protein I am very curious... because I know there is that very strict diet 2 weeks prior to surgery... I keep seeing all the stuff you can use as a protein supplemnt, but most of the are milky substances which make me gag. I can not stand the stubstance of milk so I saw a thing for benaprotein has anyone used this if so what do you think of it do you really not taste it or does it leave a funky residue in your drink or mouth, is there a bad after taste??? michelle

I've used Beneprotein. It is not flavorless. It's just not flavored to resemble some other flavor. I tried it in tomato soup on the full liquid phase and it was horrible. However, if you mixed it in something else, it might be fine. I just don't advise mixing it with anything with tomato. ; )

My favorite protein drink without milk consistency is SmartForme Wildberry Passion drink! It tastes like fruit punch. They have other flavors, too.

I drink usually one per day. They come in a box containing 7 individual packets. They are 15 gms of protein each! (maybe this is what I confused with eggbeaters earlier!) You just open the packet and mix the contents with water and add ice if you like. I think it is worth the price ... since I do drink them. ; ) I get them at Dr. Nelson's office for a little cheaper and no shipping charges.

You might also want to try out the Nectar protein drinks.

Isopure has protein that is fruit flavored.

Benebprotien is wey based and tastes very milky-you could try an unflavored soy protien which will taste like soy.  Goat protein tastes just like goat milk, which I love, but it's expensive.

Jay Robb makes and egg based protein and I sometimes just buy powdered egg whites to add to things. (You can get Jay Robb online and at the natural foods store on 74th street, I'm not sure about akins)

The powdered is even worse-it's like 75 bucks for a tub of it.  But I mix it half strength (full has 40 grams of protein and that's too much for me to take in all at once) so it lasts a long time.  It's a good way to get in 20 grams for like 100 calories if you are coming up short for the day.

I found that protein bullets were a life saver for me.  They are not called bullets when yu go to the store or online.  They come in a plastic container that resembles a really big test tube.  You can get them in the GNCs.  They are kind of pricey also but so worth it.  I mixed them with an appropriate flavor of crystal light.  I also enjoyed Nectasr fuzzy navel mixed with a little sleeve of orange crystal light in 32 oz of water.  Yum! Yes, all of this protein is really expensive.  But, you are doing it instead of a meal so it sort of balances out. Denise
