I did the most airheaded thing EVER.  I forgot to cancel the dog reservations for this weekend.  Not a big deal, but I have six dogs, and that IS a big deal.  The kennel said it wasn't, but I felt awful, so I am taking three in to stay over the fireworks days and I'll get them baths, etc.

Now, on one hand, my dogs are a pretty sweet deal-they all move in/out as one dog, no one bites, most behave quite well.  BUT, if I, as a business person, had 6 cancellations on a big weekend, that would be tough.

Ok, I've vented.  I'm not doing a complete flake out so I guess I'm only half awful.  One of my many careers was as a dog groomer, so I am particularly sensitive to people who cancel or are no shows, and like my entire family, I am anal about appointments. crap crap crap crap.

You know, in my opinion, my dog whispering friend.... I honestly would think it could be, not so big of a problem.  The reason being that it is a holiday weekend and they may have a long waiting list they can fill it with... AND it is Wed morning, not Fri morning so there is still time to book a few more if needed....I'm playing the Glad game here!!  I know you feel bad though and I'm sorry for that....You are doing a good thing by sending half the pack!  I wonder if the others will be jealous of the others looking so hot whenthey come back???

Deb, it will be OK. I'm sure they know you are a great customer and they may have been short staffed on this holiday weekend, so maybe it worked out good for them! ; )

I'm running to our vet today to pick up more Frontline Plus for all the cats and dogs. I also need to get vaccinations for everyone ... but I have to take them in groups. There's no way I would ever try to take all of them at the same time!

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

They probably had a waiting list.  Where do you take them?  I am always looking for a kind and gentle place to take my babies. Yeah, 4th of July is hard on pets!  I am stocked up on doggie downers from the vet!  One of my babies suffers big time during storms and fireworks.  I even had to drug him when the roofers were here- all that -nailing over head freaked him out terribly.  Oh, the things we do for our fur babies! I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

We always dread this holiday. Being rural, some jokers still choose to break the law and shoot off fireworks. Not only does it make our dogs nervous, it will make horses panic and even run through fences! We generally have to put the horses in the barn and babysit them during those long nights of banging and popping! We are still in the Norman city limits, but that seems to make no difference to the people that want to drink at the lake and shoot fireworks...or the folks that live out here and pay no attention to laws. It keeps the park rangers busy and our Norman PD. At least this year it isn't all dry grass and such high fire danger as it was a couple of years ago. That year we were out with the tractor making fire barriers around our property as best we could before the 4th and following fireworks, plus staying in the barn with the horses trying to keep them calm. The police and fire department employees dread this holiday, too, for the most part. It runs them ragged!

I take mine to Grant Square Animal Hospital on SW 44th.  Nothing fancy, but Dr. Corneil has been there since before I was born.  If they are full up I go to Hillcrest-it's on SW 57 and Penn-Dr. Mauldin is a great guy and I know one of the techs who has been there since Highschool-he just turned 40.  It's not a lack of ambition or opportunity thing-he loves what he does and he loves the animals.

I had good vets in Dallas too, but they are the new school sell everything they possibly can and every treatment they possibly can and that got kind of annoying.

I feel bad for all the animals this holiday-they just don't get it.
