Deb, I'm sorry to hear about your sadness.  I do hope you feel better soon.  I haven't lost anyone very close to me yet in my lifetime, so it's hard for me to relate.  However, I can relate it to quitting smoking (over a year ago) and as you said...losing my other best friend, food.  From those experiences, I can tell you that day by day as you learn to deal with your sadness, things will get better.  When you get your bike back give me and my hubby a shout....we'd love to ride with you.

Dog gone it, life is hard. Hugs to you, Sweetie!

I don't know of anything much harder than watching a loved one decline in abilities. I will definitely be sending prayers up for you and your family members. As for making good food choices and weight loss ... I think the fact that you aren't packing on the pounds right now is a huge success! Make the good choices whenever you can, and if you need an old and familiar comfort once in a while, make it a *good* or better old comfort choice. A Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich is a pretty good option. ; ) It isn't broccoli, but it sure beats a Braum's banana split. ; )

What about meeting at a bookstore and browsing books or starting a new crochet project? I'll be glad to meet up with you!!! One of my favorite places to go to have some quieter time and distraction and brain feeding shopping is to go to Borders, Hastings, or Barnes & Noble! I also take my knitting along and just let my brain relax and knit away. Or, would you like to meet up at a local yarn shop? I love that, too!!!

Just let me know and I'll be there for an afternoon mental staycation. I'm hoping that you will take us up on our offers and that your heart will be bolstered. I'm praying for you now. Huge hugs for you!!!

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

I'd be up for an afternoon knit/book/crochet session-I'm pretty open this week every day but  Thursday and Saturday.  Let me know what would work for you and if you are going straight home afterward I might just put a turtle in my backpack.  Carolyn wasn't thin when she showed up, but she's been eating quite well and probably should get back into foraging mode while there is plenty to forage on.

Hey, what about tomorrow? Hubby said he's be happy to bring me to meet up with you and then he'd pick up Carolyn Slowsky and bring her home and release her at a prime location on our farm. Then he'd come back to visit and pick me up. We wouldn't have to worry about Carolyn overheating that way. ; ) Where do you want to meet? Is Norman OK? Borders maybe? We could maybe lunch at Panera if you want ... love their Strawberry Poppyseed salad with Chicken (enough for several meals! Healthy, too!). Or, any other location to meet up is fine, too! I could take you to a great yarn shop, too, if you like. : )

Norman is fine- I need to drive out to Floyd's RV some time tomorrow anyway to pick up a hitch.  Give me a time (and a street addy, I'm not familiar with Panera in Norman) and I'll go get my hitch in the morning and meet you for lunch (and anyone else who wants to knit/crochet/gossip).  That's really sweet of your hubby to get Carolyn like that-I'll say thank you cause she's a grump and won't.

How about meeting at 11:30 AM? After lunch, we can head over to Borders.

Here's the Panera info (take the Norman Main St. exit off I-35 and go east past 24th st, it's on the south side of Main St.):

Norman (map)
about 1.98 miles away
2200 West Main Street
Norman, OK 73069
(405) 447-0000 | phone

Borders is just west of I-35 and Main St. Go west and turn left (south) on Ed Noble Pkwy, then in a block or two, turn right (south) on Norman Center Ct and you'll see Borders right there. There's a big area with table and chairs straight back from the entry and also an area with couch and chairs. We can knit/crochet and book shop there.

Borders address:

300 Norman Center Ct, Norman, OK - (405) 573-4907

Anybody that wants to join us is more than welcome!

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Deb,  I haven't been online in a couple of days and now that I am reading everyone's posts...all the advice in the world has been given already!!  I just want to say that you are in my thoughts and prayers.  When I am stressed and can't eat...I chew on my fingernails...when I am sad, I cry or talk to God about it.  Hang in there and take care of you!!!!  Diana
