OK, let's put your loss into perspective- you've lost a kindergartener!!!!!  You did that in less than 2 months!!!!  You should be so so proud of yourself!   Mix up your exercise routine.  Vary the foods you are eating while staying in the prescribed food plan.  At this point your body is taking a breather.  You will start losing again but maybe not at the rate you were losing before.   You still have time to make your goal before Christmas break.  Make sure your patient advocate knows your goal date.  I found them very easy to work with in terms of dates.  Dr. Walton even did surgery on a Friday (not a usual surgery day) to accomodate my school schedule. If it makes you feel better you are kicking my butt in terms of weight loss AND I have had the surgery!!!  This is the place to whine.  Your family and friends won't understand but we do. Denise
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

You're doing so well. Don't give up. Like the others have said, Dr. Walton has a reason for you to loose that weight before surgery. It's for YOUR health and YOUR safety. We all hate the stalls and whine about them. You're in good company. Just stay the course and lean on us. Take care! Cindy

What grade do you teach?

I know it is crazy to think that I have lost a whole kindergartener! I was just talking about that the other day. It is crazy!

I am not giving up. I am pressing on.. but you know how it is when you are working so hard for something and you are not getting the results you want..

Thanks for the support. I appreciate all your advice!

I think Dr. Walton is a little different on the preop weight loss...Im not sure. I have to lose 1/4 of what I want to loose before I can have mine which is 22 lbs.   That seems like nothing to you I'm sure because you lost that in one week, But it is so hard for me, because I am a meal skipper....to eat is hard for me.....so my body shuts down. That seems like a tiny issue, but for me it is huge. That is my mountain, that and a few huge hills in my way. Please listen to those on here....they have been where you are at one time or another. I know that we have dates for our dreams to come true, but God may have other plans.  The reason I have to loose 1/4 what I want to loose is because I have a fatty liver and a keg gut!! I carry all my weight in my gut. That makes it unsafe for me to have the surgery. It is in our best interest to do what they tell us to do....like kids, we don't like it cause it's hard! Don't think that if I can loose 100# on my own, why do this surgery....It will come back. Think of it as climbing that mountain so you can get to the top....after Dr. Walton gets done with you..it will be a ski ride down!! You will never have to loose that first 100 again!!  I think you are amazing!!! I think you have really been working hard at this to achieve that goal! Do not give up...Like I said....The plans we set in our minds to do things...somehow are in God's hands!! I know this first hand so don't give up!! Sherry

It's not whining when you need weight loss surgery and they want you to lose weight first.  I remember feeling the exact same way.  It seem insurmountable!  I won't offer advice here because you've already gotten some great words here.  I will offer moral support.  Hang in there because the weight will come off eventually.  You are already doing all of the right things.  Trust that your day will come and, in the meantime, we will all be here for you.  Keep posting any time you need encouragement or whatever.  You can do this! Hi Becky - You have gotten some great advise already, so I am going to add that I know exactly how you feel about having to lose so much weight pre-op. I think the amount of weight they ask you to lose is based on your BMI and where they want that BMI to be at the time of surgery. This is in order to make the surgery as safe as possible. When I started this process my BMI was 69 and I needed to get that down to about 60. I lost 52 lbs before being able to have surgery. I know what it feels like to hear that on your consultation appt; I quickly tried to go back in my mind to the last time I had lost 50 to 60 lbs and came up blank, I wanted to this so bad, but I truly could not envision it happening. What worked for me was putting the surgery and surgery date out of my mind and concentrate on the issue at hand, the pre-op diet. I was also on the aggressive plan, and I used that time to make some major changes in my diet and the way I used food. This is NOT easy, but it truly helped me getting mentally adjusted to post-op life much better than otherwise. The fact that you lost 43 lbs in less than two months is absolutely great, but keep in mind that it is normal for you body to slow down and adjust to what you are doing to it. The aggressive plan is what it is, aggressive, and it is a bit of a shock to your body. I would lose about 12 lbs every two weeks, and on a couple of occasion I lost zero in two weeks (yeah that was motivating!!), but I learned to understand how things work metabolically, and this is also good preparation for your post-op time, since your metabolism will be out of whack at times! My best advise would be, first of all, don't look at the big 100 lbs picture. You in essence only have 60 more to go. Secondly, set small goals for yourself (I do this still), such as 10 lbs goals, things will look much brighter that way. If you think you are stalled, change something, even little things like increasing your water by 8 to 16 oz a day, if you exercise 30 min a day, try to add 10 minutes to that, even if not consecutive. Most of all, stay positive, it will happen, (the WW surgeons are the best, and they know 110% what they are doing) and you will be so glad they asked you to lose the 100 lbs - Promise! - Please let me know if you have any questions - Anna
