New to the Group and Need Some Input
My name is Mary and I am 6 weeks post op from having the lapband. My question is I walk 6 miles everyday and have lost 35 pounds and the past two weeks have not lost any. Was hoping someone could give me some clues on how to jump start the weight loss again. I drink five 20 ounces of water a day plus get my 60 grams of protein. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Thanks,
I am going ot tell you what my doctor told me, now granted I had RNY but I think it applies to us both. First off you are doing great for 35 pounds in 6 weeks. That is very good. The thing my doc said is your body might be huffing and puffing so to speak. What I mean is have you ever seen the hefty kid running down the basketball court? They just can't wait for the coach to blow the whistle so they can take a breath. We as WLS patients are that kid, and our body is the coach. From time to time we can be doing everything perfect but our body will blow the whistle and say TIME OUT...you need a breather.
Hope that analogy makes sense...best of luck to you and feel free to ask us all anything, anytime.

At 6 weeks your body is still getting over surgery, adjusting to your new way of eating-it's probably freaking out at the moment. Are you getting enough calories to support your activity level? Heavy activity plus low low calories will slow your metabolism down-heavy activity plus well spaced, healthy calories, turns it into a fat burning machine. However, the level is different for every person, and for me, it changes depending on the time of year.
Yeah, it's holding on to everything it can saying, "What the heck are you doing to me? You're starving me!" Eventually, it will kick in and start losing again. We used to refer to these as "stalls." Now we call them, "body readjustments." I'm the queen of those, I think. Anyway, even if you're not losing pounds, you're losing inches. Make a habit of looking at yourself in the mirror naked.
I kid you not. I picked out a specific area on my body and watched it at least once a week. I could see the results.
