The Pharm D got back to me on this topic. It looks like my friend's experience may just have been a coincidence. I am not going to try the supplkements due to the info I found on not using it if stomach size has been surgically reduced.

We met at the Hemophilia meeting this past weekend at the Skirvin. I have

looked through the literature for an answer to your question on using

lycopene supplements for hair loss and can't find anything. A lot of

"natural hair loss cures" use lycopene in their ingredients, but not so much

for preventing the hair loss, mostly for it's anti-oxidant effects.

Most likely a lycopene supplement won't hurt, because it is a great

antioxidant and has been shown to be beneficial for preventing free-radical

damage, but you are probably better off taking it in a "natural" form, like

in tomato products. Interestingly, processed tomato products contain more

lycopene than fresh tomato.

Thanks for letting us know. I take Biotin when I think about it, but my hair loss has slowed way down..I got lucky and didn't lose much, but redheads have more hair than other hair colors. They say it's more "dense"...NO, I"m not dense..my hair is!
