Ketosis/ Can someone give more information on it?
Cowboyonfire, I know you were telling something about using Coconut fiber for Ketosis. Can you give anymore information on it?
Can you have any sugar at all while trying to get in that stage?
I need some more information in simple terms about this stage.
How many carbs should you be having to get in the fat burning stage if not a diabetic?
I'm going to my nutrition, psych, exercise appts next week but trying to get some pounds off before then. I had appt a few weeks ago but ended up in hospital with other problems and wasn't able to attend yet. I do have my starting weight though and would like some pounds off by this appt. I do have some off but would like more and not sure as to what to do. Anyone with any suggestions?

My thoughts would be just do what you are doing right now - start logging your food and liquid intake to take with you to your appointments. The only thing I would suggest to get off of right now is stop your pop intake - diet or not - it is one of the hardest things to get off of. And one of the most important! At least start decreasing the amount!! I went cold turkey off the stuff about 6 months before surgery and it was unbelievable how things started to taste!! Second would be caffeine completely - but that is going to cause some headaches so wait at least a week or two after the pop.
Your dietitian will decide exactly which pre-operative schedule you need to be on and which diet will go along with that. LISTEN TO THEM and follow it verbatim. If it isn't working, call them immediately so they can tweak your program. These ladies KNOW how to get the weight off you!!
TRUST your team and keep coming here and support group meetings for your "kick in the pants" reality check. We've all been here (or actually in process), done that and bought the shirt!! The amount of experience we have built into this forum is immense and varied so someone knows the answer or will direct you - but ALWAYS trust your medical team for anything medical please!! We're not doctors so TRUST THEM!!
Welcome to the group - I'm in Midwest City too... there are a few of us here!!

Judy,
I'm glad Ruth had a chance to get to you since I didn't see your message till now. Doc Brossard loves the method that I use and he knew it wouldn't take me long to pull my weight off based on the way I do it. He said 4 months, but it only took 2 with no changes to my regular methods.
It's definitely not easy to do and Ruth has a great suggestion....stop the soda... and try your hardest to remain off of it. Another thing that I would suggest for immediate impact is tostart eating greenbeans for one of your side items, once per day....and try to have a salad as a meal.... use only ranch or vinegrette for your topping...nothing more...
no fruits...no breads.... keep a log and for the first two weeks, limit yourself to no more than a STRICT 10 grams of carbs per day.... (when I need to crank up the fat-burning engine or break a hard stall for someone, i do a 5 grams per day...so it can be done and yes, you're not happy about it.)...lol
Anyway...zero bread....zero potatoes....zero sugar...... for a full two weeks.... if possible learn to live "raw" veggies as much as you can to bring ack some energy to your first few days.
Expect some headaches from the lack of carbs you're used to getting and low energy...but he energy will return... after 2 weeks you'll pull off amazing amounts of fat and weight...but that's another plan that we can talk about later...
Chat with you in a bit...

T,
Thanks for the tips. I kind of started some of that already. I've been pretty good about any drinks. That hasn't been too hard for me cause i'm not too big on them anyway as some others are.
I have been trying to limit myself to 40 carbs a day. Didn't know that I should be doing 10. I have done the no pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, or fruit thing pretty good for past 2 months. I tried to do the no sugar also. Can you do sugar free jello and sugar free cool whip on this plan?
I'm kind of confusd as if you can have thing sweetened with artificial sweetner or not. I drink the wylers sugar free drink with water also. I sure hope I'm doing the right thing. I'm going to ask te nutritioniist when I go on Monday too. I'm hoping she wil straighten me out also.
I'm going to try the green bean thing also . Was wondering about spinach also.
I'm really going to try and do the 10 carbs too.
I have lost some weight already but wasn't sure if i was doing things right. Hopefully I am.
I've got a long road to go yet but sure hope it goes fast.
Thanks............judy
