Made it home last night

Hi everyone. I got home about 7-8ish last night... the surgery went without a hitch, however I'm in quite a bit of pain on my left side and having a hell of a time getting up/sitting down and/or drinking. I'm trying to sip every few minutes and have set a timer to help me do so...I'm just wondering when I'll start to feel better? Right now I feel weak and tired and am sipping on a low carb protein drink hoping this gets better soon so I can feel normal again and go for walks outside ; ;

Welcome to the losers bench!!!  I remember having that pain on my left side too.  I thought maybe Dr. B had put his foot there to help me yank my stomach out! LOL!  Most people begin to feel better about day 4 or so.

Get up and walk around as much as possible.  The soreness on the left side is because that is where they remove your stomach (if you did the sleeve) or they used that for instruments.  Moving around will help get rid of the gas they pumped in you for 'room' and will help with the soreness.  Walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip !!!  Day 4 is the key ;)

Takes a few days-it is a major surgery, so give yourself a little time.  Like the others said, walking around as much as possible helps.

Thanks guys... I know that everybody goes through a buyer's remorse stage, but I don't really regret having the surgery--I just can't believe I didn't realize that it was major surgery and as such, would probably be very painful at least for a bit : ) I really can't wait to see what this tool is going to help me do.

I thought my VSG would be equal to my gallbladder removal in terms of pain.  But I was wrong!  TheVSG did hurt more in the beginning but after day 3, it got better every day.  (had surgery on Wednesday and when I woke up on Saturday morning, I knew immediately I was much better)  I went back to work on the Monday for 5 hours.

I promise that every day will get better and you will be so happy that you did this.  I'm no longer food obsessed and that is a blessing!

Hang in there girlie!  You will feel good enough to go for a walk, etc in a couple of weeks.  Remember, this was a major insult to your tummy and it takes a bit to get over.  But you will get over it and be much skinnier to boot!

Welcome to the Loser's Bench, you loser!

Hello!
I'm glad to hear you are home and doing well!  You pain will start to go away in a few days.  Everyday will be better!  Just walk walk walk and sip sip sip and on day six I went shopping for 3 hours!  I am WOMAN!  LOL!  I just love to shop!
Stay positive and follow your dr.s instructions and you'll do fine!
Hugs

It's so good to hear from you. Welcome home! What you're feeling is normal. It's important to keep moving. You might try using a pillow over your tummy and hugging that, as you stand up from a seated position. If you get up every 15 minutes, it will help the soreness go away faster. I know that doesn't make sense, but it worked for me. You probably came home with a prescription for liquid Lortab (or something similar). Don't hesitate to take it. Five days from now, the soreness will be just  memory, probably. :)  Each day from now will be better and better.
Blessings,
Mary
