Carb question?
I have taken up drinking decaf coffee since we get to count it as water and it goes down so easily. But I usually have 4 packets of Splenda per large cup and about 3 large cups per day. But I've figuring out that means 24 grams of carb for just the coffee. Plus whatever carbs are in the powdered coffee creamer.
Could that be causing me to not lose weight? Is this a stupid question?
What do you guys think?

I don't know-but are we weighing tomorrow? I'm so excited.
I don't think carbs per se keep you from losing weight-but if you think it might-put a shot of fiber in to negate the carbs, course, the fiber has calories so you'll have to put a shot of something else in there to negate the calories. Me-I just give myself roughly a cup of skim milk a day (or soy) to add to coffee.
(I have a friend who still uses half and half, is down about 150 pounds, but she treats the cuppa like a meal).
I also was shoked when I found this out. During my preop diet I tried to stay under 30 carbs per day so tracked them religiously. You might want to get some of those ketosis strips that you urinate on to see if you are in ketosis or not. I know that many carbs just from splenda plus meals all day might be throwing you out. You could also look at using a different sweetner like Stevia Extract which is only 1 carb http://www.netrition.com/now_stevia_packets_page.html or Erythritol which has 0 net carbs http://www.netrition.com/sensato_erythritol.html. I also like coffee with my sweetner so I know where you are coming from. To break the plateu you may want to really reduce carbs to under 20 a day for a couple weeks and then gradually reintroduce more of them each week thereafter. That is what worked for me on the preop and helped me drop so quickly. I know I am no expert yet since I just had surgery but maybe it will help.
