How long did it take your insurance company to approve you?

HI I'm Tanisha. I would like to know how long did it take your insurance company to approve you for the surgery?  I have done all my pre-op stuff like all required doctors visits and labs. Now it is time for all my stuff to be sent to the insurance company for approval for the gastric bypass surgery.

I have TriCare and had my surgery on Ft Sill @ Reynolds & they never told me when they put in the paperwork. From the seminar till I had my surgery was right at 6 months.

What insurance do you have?

I have Unicare PFFS

Once I met all the insurance requirements and jumped through their hoops, we summitted the final paper work and it took about 4 weeks.

 It feels like forever but  when you finally get approved, things move fast. I had to do a 6 month diet then waited 1 month for them to deny me because of hospital choice and then another month to approve me for a hospital 110 miles from home. Good old Cigna.

When I started the process to surgery was about 3 months. When it was submitted to my insurance, BC/BS Blue Links, I found out the next day. I was very fortunate as compared to some.

Well it has been right at 4 months from when I started the process to my approval. I got the call today that I was approved. So I'm very excited!!!

Congrats on your approval!  It's a wonderful....but scary feeling when you're finally approved!  It all becomes a reality.  You're in for the time of your life.  WLS is absolutely the best thing I've ever done in my life.  I had RNY on July 21st, and I'm down 82 pounds - 38 preop.

Wow Congratulations, I hope i lose as quickly as you have. Thats Awesome! I am so excited and scared because of all the changes to come but most of all I'm excited!
