Down to Crunch Time...And CANJET cancels all flights!!
I had my flights booked with HopeAir on CanJet for September 18th.
I'm hoping they'll be able to book alternate flights with another carrier...because if my mom and I have to go looking now, it's going to cost a lot more money.
Funny, Hope Air hasn't called me to discuss what's happened.
No offense to the fine volunteers at Hope Air, but I've found my experience with them to be a mass of confusion all around.
Here's hoping for updated flight news soon.
Oh, I had my flights booked.
But thanks to the unexpected cancellation of all scheduled flights via CANJET...I'm left with nothing.
I can see Air Canada has flights for 98.00 each way, per person...working out to about 600.00 Canadian. But I might need a 3rd seat for room and that makes it 900.00. agh.
I feel bad for my mom, who's already been stressed out trying to get a place lined up and paid for to stay in. Now we've got to run around finding alternate flights. She's refusing to take the train...which is somewhat understandable since it's over 12 hours of a ride.
Will keep you guys updated when I have more news.
Hi!
I know thiis won't do to much to make you feel better about Canjet, but I travelled with AC last year and I didn't need a 3rd seat...I just needed the seatbelt extender (I have a BMI of about 55 with the hips to match!). Sooooo...if you do end up needing to buy tickets with AC, I wouldn't worry too much about that third seat!
Thanks guys for all your support.
At first my brain was like "this is a sign...you should NOT do this surgery!" and alot of my friend who know me, were asking "so are you going to cancel the surgery" cause they KNOW I'd give up at the slightest problem.
But after thinking about it...NO, I'm not going to cancel my surgery (not that my mom would let me...laughs)...so now I just have to race around trying to find a way to get there.
More updates to come.
And with that BMI of 55 or so (not to intrude) how much did you weigh? I'm close to 400 lbs..and the last time I flew 4 + years ago, I weighed considerably less. Just curious. Main concern is I DON'T want to give blood clots a chance to form.
Toodles!
It's no intrusion!
I was REALLY worried about flying last year. I was taking my mom to London for a Christmas present, and I couldn't sleep for 3 days before the flight I was SOOOOOOOOO worried that I wouldn't fit in the seat. I'm about 350-360. The best suggestion I can make is to ask for the seat by the emergency exit (about midway on the plane) and a seatbelt extender. Being near the emergency exit gives you a little extra leg room (or tummy room!) and the seatbelt extender is super easy. However, all of this was only necessary on the flight there...on the flight back, the seatbelts were bigger! It was kinda neat not having to use the extender! It just depends on what plane they are using that day I think. If you have any other concerns, the 1-800 number for AC was super helpful when I was asking questions about flying as an obese passenger. And as for blood clots, you ARE able to walk around on the flight (they don't like it, but if you take lots of trips to the bathroom, you can get away with it!). I have some friends who work with AC too, so if you have any other questions that I may be able to help with, don't hesitate to ask!
