Dumping

I have actually had dumping for a couple of years before my surgery. I just didn't know that was what this was called.Usually happened if there were food additives in my meals. I try to be careful but they put things into even foods they label as all natural. They are just not all natural to me.
So last Friday I had a bit of fish that had a light breading. Usually when we buy food we both check for guar gum additive because it is one of my triggers. But my husband must of missed it.After i had three small bites I had major stomach pain. I stopped eating and had a protein shake later in the evening.
Well in the night i woke up with great abdominal pain. I went to the washroom. Felt dizzy and saw stars but I had had this before so knew I would just have to wait until the food passed and the pain would go. Well this time I passed out. i woke up on the floor. No idea how long i was out but since i did not feel any pain i think it might have been for a few minutes.
I had trouble getting up since my right knee was sore. Must of hit it when I went down. The next moring when I went to dry after my shower I found a huge very colourful bruise on my shoulder. Leter when brushing my hair I felt a soreness on the side of my head.
We have a small bathroom and i must of hit the sink on the way down. I guess i will have to be even more careful of dumping in the future!

I have yet to have my surgery but have had dumping a few times. Mostly when I over eat or drink to much with a meal. I have had it if I have to much sugar alcohol like in the no added sugar licorice.

I am afraid it might get worse with the surgery.

On the other hand with being more aware of what i am eating it might happen less.

Usually with me it is guar gum, msg and another that I can't think of at the moment. I also have diarrhea from too much artificial sweetner. I had a problem with optifast.

Sensitivity to sugar alcohols can make anyone have the runs, but that's not dumping.

I'm not sure what you two are describing as dumping as pre-ops is really the right word.  I have food intolerances to preservatives as well and if they happen to be in something I have eaten, I feel like crap but it's definitely not dumping syndrome.

Dumping is something they talk about in the nutrition class. They meantion it in relation to high fat or sugar foods. i had neither but I did have the abdominal cramps for sure.
I wouldn't worry about it. Not many people experience it.

I know exactly what dumping is.  I don't believe what you are describing is dumping.  You can get abdominal cramps from a heck of a lot of things so if that is all you got then it likely wasn't that.

I had my surgery on January 20th. Looking at the symptoms, if it isn't dumping it is a close cousin

Food intolerances can cause the same issues in people that haven't even had any type of stomach surgery and it's not dumping.  I believe you are confusing what true dumping actually is.
