Hi
Sorry not going, been there done that (I go for Surgery on the 15th). I just wanted to let you know they are a great bunch of people at Humber. I do however think they are trying to scare people a bit in the orientation but don't worry, it's not that bad. They will tell you the mortality rate is 1 in 250 but that is world wide (mexico ect.) the mortality rate at HRRH is 1 in 1000 and that is equivalent rates to having your tonsils out.
Best of luck to you enjoy your journey,
Kathy

Welcome to the HRRH group. I agree with Kathy as they are a great bunch there. I am also pre-op, but am 2 weeks away from surgery. Best of luck on your journey and keep us posted on any updates!

Hi,
Welcome, I too have completed my orientation and went to meet the surgeon today. He told me that no one dies on the table! He said the risk is 1 in a 1000 and Humber is the only hospital. Outside of the US to receive.Bariatric Accreditation in 2011. The surgeon also said that they are very proactive and if they suspect any issue, they will go back in immediately to check instead of taking a wait and see approach. You are in good hands at HRRH.

Hi Sassy
Dr.Hagen told both my friend and I that the Mortality rate is 1 in 1000. I think if it was 1 in 200 not nearly as many people would do this, double check to reassure yourself you don't need to have any extra stress.
Best wishes
Kathy
