Hello all...I am one month post op tomorrow, and so far I have been following the program as instructed to and have not had any intolerances with food up until yesterday. I did not introduce anything new, ate at the same pace I always do (takes me minimum an hr to eat a meal) and could not keep anything down. As soon as I swallow, i feel as though I have just swallowed a huge air bubble, and when I try to pass it, I end up feeling very nauseous and vomiting. Today has been very much the same, which the exception of holding down a few bites of chicken. Liquids are sitting fine, so I have been putting my protein powder in every drink I have to ensure I am getting in protein. It only takes a few bites of food, then the feeling of a huge air bubble, quickly followed by the feeling of very bad heart burn in my throat, then I vomit. Anyone else experience this?? any suggestions??? I'm just trying to ensure I keep hydrated and get my vits and some protein in.

Sorry you are having this bump in the road. You should call your centre on Monday. Better to be on the safe side.

It might be the beginnings of a stricture (which is a fairly common and usually a simple fix) or it might be something else. I would definitely call your surgeon and get it looked at because you don't want to become dehydrated from the vomiting....which can make all your symptoms worse. Try picking up something that has electrolytes in it...sugar free. Maybe a sugar free Gatorade to keep you hydrated. Good luck, hope you feel better soon

Hey Daisies

I am almost 1 month post op too (just shy of a couple of days).  I have a few foods that "Petri" the pouch doesn't seem to like much.

Cream of wheat cereal.. 2 bites in and I felt like I was going to vomit.

Protein shakes... they don't feel good but stay down... I think it might be because I make them cold.

Chill... 2 bites and it felt too heavy.

Chicken breast... OMG!! ouch... I think it was too dry.

Things that go down fine are all my liquids, yogurt, cheese, roasted seaweed, flaked ham or tuna in lite mayo, pork tender loin (slow cooked on a rotisserie), peanut butter and soda crackers and I have no issues with soups. I can only eat about a 1/2 cup of solid food at a time; a little more maybe up to a cup of soups.  I think that "Petri" may still be a carb monster... mashed sweet potatoes taste soooooo good and feel good too.

It takes a long time to eat now... too fast and it hurts like hell.

Thanks so much everyone for replying. I'm wondering if maybe I had a bit of a stomach bug?? I'm feeling like a completely different person today, and food is staying down just fine. It's such a crazy learning curve with our new tools!!!!
