What does everyone do for their job?

I am currently doing online college for Associates in Accounting. I  do not work at the moment and well I wanted to get a job after I heal from my surgery. I was just curious what everyone does for a living and how they manage their day at work after surgery.

Im an Executive Assitant for a Commericial Real Estate Company.  Eating out is NOT an option for me.  I have only eaten out twice since I had my surgery (7 months post op) and dumped both times so...I dont even try it anymore.  Every Monday I purchase or bring enough WLS friendly foods to last for the entire week (breakfast, lunch and snacks).  I also keep my blender ball and a  tub of protein in my desk for those moments that I need a little boost.

Its not really hard to manage my diet while at work but that's not to say that I dont get tempted at times. But that's just what they are, temptations.  Good luck.

I'm an ER nurse.  Currently working two jobs.  One here in Pa 7p-7a 3 nights a week and one in jersey 11p-7a 2 nights about every other week.

I pack yogurts and ricotta cheese in little single serving containers about 1-2 times a week.  Then when I get home from work in the morning I throw a few of them, 4 water bottles, and a "meal" (generally salad or chicken or something along those lines) along with a few string cheeses in my lunch bag and throw the whole thing in the fridge.  Then, when I get up all I have to do is grab my bag, make my decaf tea which I generally have on the way to work (although with the humid warm weather I've been opting for a decaf iced coffee from DD lately in place of the tea) and head out the door.  And I know I have plenty of small things to get me through the night which all add up in protein counts.

There are nights I'm to busy to even eat a yogurt and nights where I graze on things like pretzels and crackers when I shouldn't....but I do try to keep it to a minimum.

Good luck!

Pam

I am a nurse for a kidney doc. (office)

As far as managing foods.......I am good every day except fridays when drug reps order us things like pizza or our choice off of menu from Chili's or Ruby Tuesday's....LOL. But I am almost 5 years out. So I can eat differently, and definately know at this point what will make me sick and what doesn't.

I make Cheese omelettes in advance. Not quite cooked fully. That way when I warm it up, its perfect. I begin at 7 am long before patients arrive so I have plenty of time during my morning prep to eat as I work.

For lunches, I will sometimes have omelettes too. Or I like to have rolled up lunch meat w/ cheese, or I like to make lean hamburg with speghetti sauce, topped with cheese. No pasta. I mostly only eat protein for breakfast or lunch. (mostly.......LOL) you tend to find what works best for your work schedule and atmosphere.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I'm an office administrator (desk job) and we have a fridge here at work - when we got a new one I took over one of the veggie bins for my stash. I keep string cheese, cottage cheese, and sf puddings in there at all times. I keep those individual packets of tuna in my drawer so I can make my own tuna fish here at work, and keep lo-fat or lite mayo in the fridge. I usually stock the fridge with lo-fat lunchmeats and cheese for roll-ups or sandwiches on Arnold whole wheat bakery rounds. I also keep Atkins protein bars in my drawer and nuts - I've found Atkins to have the lowest carbs and sugars and they're not huge. I don't eat them a lot but they're good to keep handy. I also keep a dish of hard sugar free candy on my desk and sf mints for those times when I know I want something but am not really hungry. Once in a while I'll buy a small container of greek yogurt and mix sf jelly with it but I'm honestly not a huge fan of yogurt.

And probably most crucial of all for me is a large, lidded water bottle or cup of some kind that I fill 3 times a day and sip on all day to get my water/fluids in. I know straws aren't the best thing for us but I do use one with my water because I can't afford to spill a large glass of liquids on my desk or computer.

My work week is actually a lot better and more structured than my weekends - at work I know I eat 6 small meals a day and once your body gets used to it you won't even need a clock, but on weekends I don't have the same structure so I tend to miss snacks or don't have a good plan for things like lunch.

I'm a Project Manager for a large general contractor in Philadelphia.  It's mostly a desk job unless I'm on an active project and working on a jobsite.  At my corporate office I have access to a kitchen and fridge so I just pack all my goodies the evening before and make sure I keep an eye on the times that I eat my first meal, which is always at work and I eat every 2-3 hours after that.

I am working with a nutritionist so she and I plan my meals, I usually make everything I need for at least 3 days, store it in my fridge so I just have to grab it and go. I do a lot of running around and have tons of meetings but everyone I work closely with knows the deal and it doesn't really phase anyone when I excuse myself to go grab my protein drink or a piece of fruit.

After breakfast I take note of the time and plan the rest of my day in my head so I know the approximate times I want to eat.  There is sometimes a kink thrown into my plan, but that's life and you have to roll with it and just do the best you can.  Once it becomes routine, you won't even think about it and just do it.  It'll be second nature.

I work for Aetna Insurance as an implementation consultant.  I set up benefits for companies and make sure that the benefits that they want are allowed in the state they live in according to the legislation.

I work from home so luckily I don't have to deal with other people's fridges or other people questioning me or what I am eating.  I do, however, find myself grazing at times.  It's always on "good" food, but it's still grazing.  I think it's just that I really don't want to be working so I wander around my apartment and somehow always end up in the kitchen.  I am definitely aware of it, so I am making a conscious effort to stop doing it.  I keep a jug of liquid--usually crystal lite--in the fridge and I make sure to empty it by the end of the day.  That way I know I am getting in all my water for the day.

I also try to get over to the gym or take a walk during my lunch break, so if I can't get out later due to my daughter's busy schedule, I know I got some kind of exercise in for the day.

I am 2 1/2 years out and a graphic designer/ project manager/ inside sales for a sign company.

We have a small fridge so I pack my food the night before so all I have to do is toss it in the bag in the morning. On sundays I do a mass prep. I cut up cheese, veggies, fruit and portion it out in tupperware containers or zip lock bags. I also make pudding and divide that up (like it better then the pre-made stuff). Lunch is usually leftovers from the night before. Or I love lunchmeat roll ups (So miss this being preggo!) They are great wrapped in lettuce too. I eat breakfast when I get here in the morning - oatmeal is a great one for me, or like Jo I'll make an omlet the night before and heat it here. Snack is usually yogurt and fruit, then lunch. After lunch I have a snack around 2:30 which is cheese and fruit, nuts, beef jerkey etc then dinner when I get home and a snack before bed if I don't fall asleep first! lol

I keep a stash at my desk of beef jerkey, crackers (just incase hypoglycemia kicks in!), nuts as well as yogurts and pudding in the fridge.

I keep a water bottle on my desk and drink all day long. I also have crystal light packets, hot chocolate mix and tea in my desk.

Hope this helps!
