HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!!
With all of the turmoil in the world, here and abroad, we need to remember that we live in a country that was founded with "freedom from persecution" and so many other "baisc" building blocks. We have come very far - and still have VERY far to go.
But we are free, and despite any personal feelings towards the various wars in various countries that we fighting - we need to understand that these men and women are simply doing their job, risking their lives, missing their families, to help defend our "basic rights". You or I do NOT have to agree with them being over there fighting....but we should agree on the fact that they are serving us, and deserve utmost respect and gratitude for that.
Happy Independence day!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

PAm - great post!
Freedom isn't free - someone lost their arm, leg, life, brother, sister, mother, father, aunt, uncle, grandparent or best friend so you can be free today.
Stopo and say a prayer or send some positive thoughts to those who are missing out on their family time to support your right to be with yours
Happy Independence Day!
Love you all!

Thank You Pam for a great Post. My father fought in WWI and WWII, all three of my brothers were in the military as were my BIL, and my husband was in Viet Nam. My nephew and his father (age 53) both were in Iraq. We are a military family so to speak. We were lucky to have everyone make it back ok. I pray every nite for those that are in the military.
My husband and I saw Lee Greenwood in Tenn in December and he sang that song, it gave me goosebumps. (everyone in the theater stool)
Have a Great 4TH!!!!

My fave is "Two Lights" by Five for Fighting. John Ondrasik explained the backstory of the song at his concert here and it really brought it all home... it's about a family with a deployed son who hears that his unit has been in a battle and that there are casualties... they don't know "who" and are waiting to hear. It's a heart-rending song that brings home the price we pay for our freedoms. Well worth a listen (and if you don't know Five for Fighting, definitely worth also listening to "A Hundred Years" as well...)
