Check out the local thrift stores (Salvation Army or Goodwill);  they often have great clothes, some even new, and at great prices.

Good luck!

I love to shop and really get excited when I find a good clearance rack and Fashop Bug does run some really good sales. I do alot of thrift stores not consignment stores they cost more I have found some good bargains at Macy's clearance racks and get coupons from Fashion Bug I go to Goodwill and Second Avenue in franklin mall (second avenue) I heard they have a great Goodwill in lancaster too. I have kinda turned into a cheapo since I discovered thrift shops when I walk into regular places I find myself saying gosh I can get about 4 tops for the price of this one and have to remind myself to stop it. I guess thrift shops are my addiction transfer.

Jumping in late here but echoing some shopping preferences:

Marshalls - especially a "big" store. Ours in Lancaster is small but I love to stop in the larger one in Harrisburg. (BTW, did they close the Marshall's in Exton? Or did it move?)

TJ Maxx - depends on the store. A lot of them are like a garage sale gone bad, with stuff literally falling out into the aisles. Not much fun.

Kohls - their plus sizes had not rung my bell for a while. I used to get nice Villager work clothes there, but these seem to have vanished. I'll try again with the regular sizes.

Outlets - For "good" clothes I like the Jones NY outlet.

Dress Barn - catch their sales. Watch for funky fabrics though. There is some quality stuff mixed in with things that won't last 2 washings.

Department store bargain shopping - Bon Ton yellow dots (probably done for the season now), Boscovs (where you never pay full price), and Penny's (which I've just now rediscovered and gotten some great deals). I also browse Lands End at Sears a couple of times a year.  I like to look around Macy's from time to time too - again, a good source of "better" clothes.

Walmart - no luck for me. Fit, fabrics, styles just don't work and I seldom even browse clothes racks there.

K Mart - the Jaclyn Smith line has been nice for years and years, and still isn't bad. Watch for 25-30% off sales for some bargains there and you will have the best stuff in the store.

Target - sorry to hear they have downgraded their quality on clothing. I know their plus sizes are nothing to write home about.

Old Navy - never liked them - ok for kids but it's definitely a lower end line. (Still owned by Gap?)

The clothes last forever are very true to size and well made.

Two of my fav's.

My problem is being 58 pounds down and everything I have hangs on me...
spending money on clothes seems ridiculous, but necessary.

Hi Liz!

I agree with what others are saying - Kohl's and TJ Maxx are some of my local favorites - I can find great clearance sales at Kohl's if I hit the season right!

There is one store that I ALWAYS have good luck at - regardless of what size I am.  It's the Talbot's outlet North of Baltimore.  I would NEVER pay the Talbot's prices, even when they are on "sale" at their normal sales - but this outlet store is easily 75% off or more.  They have petites, talls and regular sizes in 2's - 28's!  The best thing about the store is that it's HUGE and if you're anything like me, your bottom half might be a size or 2 larger than your top half.  Because they sell the same outfits in regular and plus sizes, I can find exactly what I need.  I just got some great button down shirts from there the other week for work.  Originally $86 a piece (regular store prices) I got each of them for 12.99 - my hubby lets me shop there all the time for that very reason!  They are amazing quality and a lot of the pieces are washable - I never buy dryclean only.  I think there may be one closer to Pittsburgh, but I've posted the address for the one North of Baltimore - well worth the trip!

I'm sold.  How about since I hate to shop, but love to wear it, I just give you all the cards and the sizes and let you have at it?  Drop the stuff off at my place when you're done  shopping yourselves silly and my cards are maxed!
