2 crazy weeks

I spent my last week with a group working in Westchester County,  NY, The previous week I had 3 days and nights of meetings in Philly, so I haven't been home in the better part of 2 weeks.

This means (1) huge long work days and (2) every meal eaten with a group in a hotel or restaurant.

In between the two work obligations, my daughter, SIL, and their 2 toddler girls were at our house for 5 days.

I had a frig in my hotel room, so I took along some milk, protein powder, sf waters, sf yogurt, greek yogurt, string cheese, and the like for breakfasts and snacks. That worked out fine. Lunch was more difficult - choices were very limited, but I had to choose something off the menu, so I chose a turkey wrap, then took the whole thing apart to pick out the meat and cheese. Dinners? Did Okay, but next time I'd be more assertive and order broiled fish with steamed veggies, whether it was on the menu or not! It is amazing how many dishes in "nice" restaurants are loaded with sauces, crusts, breading, or what have you. Or how many "house salads" come with dressing already mixed in. Or how I could almost SMELL the sugar in those dressings!

Exercise was also tough....I did some stretching every day (out of necessity - I would have gone totally nuts!)....walked on the treadmill one day, and when it stopped raining, took some 15 minute walks. But did nothing like the gym. Time was a challenge too - starting with our groups at 6:30 or 7 a.m. and going till at least 9 p.m.

At home, I was able to control meals for the famiy of course, but did not get to the gym with family visiting. Didn't want to miss a moment with the little girls!

My weight held steady over the 2  weeks, which is probably a victory. But it's good too be home and back in my groove.

And yes, people are noticing my weight loss. Women were more likely to say something...ranging from "Did you get new glasses?" to "I can see it in your face!" to "You've lost weight haven't you?" In these groups, I did not want to share the surgery story at all...so I talked about eating small meals, eating protein first, working out, working with my dr. and a nutritionist, and so on. Worked out fine.

I'll meet with that same group in April....wonder what they'll be saying by then!

We are all put in situations where it is challenging at best to do the right eating and exercising thing.  I'm glad you were able to pack up some necessities for breakfast and choose good things during your meals out.  Congratulations!!!

Sounds like you had quite a successing two weeks!!!

Welcome back to the grind!  And yes, sometimes it is a very welcoming place to be!

They are going to be saying "Look at her, she looks fantastic".

Congrats on being back home and having time with your girls.

Lynn,

Certainly sounds like a really challenging couple of weeks!  Congratulations on handling them beautifully and consciously - using good planning and thinking things through to keep yourself successing.  That's exactly what will keep this going!

Good for you!
