I am in for a crazy one today....which really started yesterday.

One of our daughters is going through a divorce - and the holidays put all the emotional stuff of that under the microscope. She basically threw a hissy fit at her dad 2 days ago. I did my best to patch up both of them. Ended up that she and her kids (4 of them) were coming to our house last night for a pre Christmas celebration.

Well thank God for the snow on Sunday! I had just finished all their gift wrapping! I raced around to clean the house a bit, threw together a dinner (thank God #2 for  Stouffer's family size lasagna!), bought some cookies, and breathlessly just got it all in place before they arrived at 6. Everyone had a good time and it seems as if Christmas IS a time of peace because darling daughter seemed much better today.

Now this means that a lot of other things DIDN'T get done, so I have to catch up on those today. I also have to log on to get about 1000 e mails from work. Go to the gym for an hour class at lunchtime. Deliver 2 little Christmas remembrances to friends from church.

Arrange photos in an album for another daughter's "sentimental gift" for Christmas. (Most of them are pulled and I can do this in the car if I have to).

Then....

Pack the car to leave for Michigan in the morning. This means gifts, some food, etc.
Update/Leave the directions for the dog sitter.
Pack some clothes for Michigan. Can't have enough clothes. It's really cold.
Organize my travel food bag.
Generally go through the last minute panic.

I think I"ll escape into the computer today. OK? Will anyone notice?

And I forgot one "yesterday" piece. We had a water leak in the basement - not a terrible one to fix, but it soaked the carpeting. So I had to call a carpet guy to come out with an extractor and take care of that issue pronto...

And decided that while he was here, he could do the master bedroom carpet...

Which meant taking the room apart...and putting it back together.

Just for fun,, ya know.

Well I did get everything done yesterday I wanted to!  Cookies baked and wrapped up, shopping done, even WRAPPED the gifts we bought.  Hubby and I had a GREAT time last night.  He's a mall rat, I am not, but I absolutely LOVED the crowds at the mall last night.  It was weird.

Anyway...today.  NO PLANS  There's little things around the house to do...but nothing set in stone.  We are ready for Chirstmas....and really....just looking forward to my day of "whatever we feel like"  I'm not even cooking - we spent much longer out last night and ended up grabbing dinner out so I have the pulled pork I made last night for tonight!

Morning, Jo and all my friends!

Jo - i hope you feel better...

I'm out of work today and for the next nearly 2 weeks - yay!!!  I'll go in probably one or two days and will do a little work from home so I'm not swamped when I get back - but what a relief!

AND... Katie is coming home today!  YAY!  She was supposed to come home monday, then yesterday, but a series of "unfortunate events" (not feeling well, SNOW) delayed her.  So she's leaving Columbus OH this morning (has already left) and will be here later this afternoon.

Today i'm taking care of all the last-minute types of things - grocery shopping for xmas eve dinner, food-based gift basket assembly, etc.  Otherwise, my shopping is done (woo ho) and everything's WRAPPED (wow!).  What a relief!

Later today I need to do some jewelry work - adjustments on things that people have requested NOT for the holidays and starting on a commission piece for January.  It will be nice to not be working under the gun like I have for the last several weeks.

Hubby started his new job on Monday so we're still adjusting to that.  He's tired, we're both sick with this nasty sore throat/cold that's going around, so the grumpies are visiting.  And with the throat and cough and sneezing, I've been avoiding the gym and cardio - just doing some stretching at home.  But we'll get through it.  Starting a new job is always stressful and makes you feel off balance - i just have to keep reminding him of that.  Sigh.

Have a great day, folks!

Good Morning Pa,
You are all so busy running around getting those last minute things done, that I feel like a lump.
This morning I will take my oldest grandchild out for a few hours, so Mom can finish wrapping. (the school being closed because of the weather, backed up the wrapping a bit)  Then maybe some cookie baking to give her something to do this afternoon.  Also a fight with the mortgage company, I refinanced in Nov., the Saturday before surgery, which is over a month ago, and I was supposed to receive a check for the balance, I have called and left messages three times, with no response.  Yesterday I called and asked to speak with the woman's supervisor, and she was away from her desk, I left a message, with my cell phone number, being I am at my daughters, and they still screwed it up, as they called my home.  So I will try to get that straightened out today.
So have a good day, stay warm, and those of you who are traveling be safe.
Hugs Ena
