Karen you have had an amazing first year and for someone that is not the "normal" RNY patient you sure have soared to great heights. You are a force of strength, compassion and caring which is a beyond words. I feel blessed to call you friend.

Here is to another wonderful year along this amazing journey.

Beth,

Thank you - that means a ton, coming from such a strong woman as you are... a true role model in so many ways.  Your friendship means so much!

Karen,

Your transformation, determination, caring, and compassion is as beautiful as you are.  You've accomplished so much in such a "little" amount of time, it's utterly astouding.  You are always available for a helpful hint, a PHENOMENAL recipie, a kick in the butt, an exercise tip, a hug and helpful word when needed.  I've LOVED following your journey, and love you too!

I do have a question - I seem to remember Dr. P telling you that once you were cleared by oncologists she would go back in and "complete" the surgery.  I by no way am implying you NEED that - because you have shown successing can be accomplished via many different routes - but is that still a consideration?  Just curious!

Congratulations on a wonderful year and many more to come my friend!

Pam,

Thank you, my friend!  Your support has meant so much along the way, and you are a truly kick-ass woman who I admire and love!

Dr. P and I talked about the surgery yesterday.  She said "We're in unknown territory here - if you start gaining and the weight starts coming back on, we can always go in and complete the surgery.  But if you don't feel you need it, then you don't.  But the option is always open."  She's also going to write up the case for publication, and I think she's intrigued to see if the procedure she did with me could be a viable option for some.  Not sure whether it's "normal" schedule, but she wants to see me back in 6 months, but asked me to call her if my weight started changing upward.  (yes, that part of the conversation made me both nervous and darned determined for that NOT to happen.)

Thanks for asking!
Karen
