OT - Interview (and a rant about my day, lol)
Ok so the interview was two separate interviews, which I knew ahead of time. The first one was w/ an HR rep, and then the second was with the director, Mike.
In all honesty - the HR portion went HORRIBLY but not because of me. Obviously my resume reflects I work at LVH. She asked me two questions (first: What do I like about working at LVH Second: What do I like LEAST about working at LVH) They went well. She then asked about a system we have in place. And then she proceeded to tell me how terrible my ER was due to a bad experience EIGHT YEARS AGO she experienced. She is obviously not an LVH lover. Fine. But as a professional, an HR professional I might add, there is absolutely no reason to bring that up in an interview with a potential employee. I'm not sure if she was looking for me to fumble, get upset, or bad mouth LVH or what...or if she's just a ridiculous person.
The SECOND interview, however, went FABULOUSLY (when mike "rescued me" from HR I might add, lol) Went down to his office and immediately connected with him. Now, HR had told me that A) I wouldn't hear anything for a minimum of 2 weeks, B) I HAD to attend a two day hospital orientation (normal) and then an 8 day "nursing orientation", all consecutive days. To be honest - that would have been a deal breaker. I broached this to Mike and he immediately told me that no, I would NOT have to attend nursing orientation. In his words "If you don't know how to start an IV by now, I've got bigger problems on my hands that fitting you into an orientation class" By the end of the interview he flat out told me "I will call HR as soon as you leave my office and get the ball started for you. Orientation for May is the 10th & 11th"
The *official* offer of hire, however, has to come from the lovely HR woman I met with first.
I'm super excited about it. It seems very nice, equipment is beyond "standard", and he's already made mention of great flexibility with scheduling etc which is awesome for me as well.
The rest of the day...wasn't so hot. A) I had made a hair appointment - but looked them up online (one of the few phone numbers I didn't have saved in my phone) when I called to make an appointment...and apparantly there is more than one of the same salon in the area - and you guessed it - made the appointment at the "other" one. So I showed up to the wrong place....and then ended up being late to my appointment. Followed that with the hairdresser (who was awesome) telling me that she would straighten my hair - but when I asked her if I would be able to get volume into my hair style with it she took one look at my fine limpy hair and said "absolutely not...it will be flat and fine and just lay on your scalp" Not what I wanted...so we "ixnayed" which I'm thankful she was honest about...but was bummed. I did cover my grays all up and I did get it cut significantly - but not as much as I had anticipated. We'll see if I go shorter.
I had planned on going home inbetween the interview and the hair appointment - but didn't have time. I had neglected to pack any food (which if you know me you know I almost NEVER leave the house without my lunch bag "just in case" so now I had left the house at 10:15am..and here it is 3:30 and I hadn't eaten a damn thing...stopped to pick something up....and realized I made a HUGE banking error and had literally 86 cents in my account when I thought there was significantly more. Oh, and I need gas.
So, had to go home, starving, annoyed by the whole hair saga, annoyed at myself for the banking error, and slightly annoyed by the HR lady still....and had to "confess" to hubby my mistake and have him put $$ in my account. *sigh*
Suffice to say...I will NOT be at Barix tonight but thanks for listening! And karen - CONGRATS on your one year! Can't wait to see the pic!!!

WOW! What a day! So sorry it didn't go as planned hun *hugs*. I am so glad that the interview with the person that mattered went well!!
I know it would be a little more of a drive (30 minutes or so) but you can always go see my Mom next time you need your hair done - she's at Dolce Vita in Flemington, NJ 908-788-2711

Way to Pam! Glad to hear about your new job and that you wowed them like you wow us! As far as the hair stuff, the only thing I understand is that you went to the wrong place and you have gray hair...lol. The money thing...eh, been there done that. Generally for me though, I have 86 cents and no money to rescue me....lol.
Here's to a better day tomorrow!

And that about sums it up. And I am sure I had plenty more gray by the time I got to the salon than I did when I started out the day....
Not sure about "wow"ing them but I at least made an impression Thanks!
