Topic: Please recommend a Psychiatrist for eval in RI/MA for second surgery
I had the lap-band done in in 2005 and have had nothin but problems with it It has gotten so bad that IF I have even 1 cc of fill, I choke at night since food is getting stuck in my throat. The Dr has decide to remove it and go with the Bypass BUT I need another Psych Eval (Again) but the 2 places I have call either want 4 hours of my time (RI Hospital) and another DR in Norwood, MA wants me to take a 500 question test (Insurance doesn't cover the test) and the 1hr Eval (insurance covered).

Back in 2005 I went to Boston University for the exam, it was easy, in & out very easy. 1 hr exam and that was it.
FYI, I don't remember the person I went to and I have Google and still nothing and the DR doesn't have the record for the Psychiatrist DR either.

I need someone to give me a basic exam, I have been through it so I know what it takes, blah blah blah. I know they are DR out there that can do it 1hr.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Topic: RE: Bariatric Vitamins in RI?

Hi Lisa!

Looks like you're doing well! Great Job!

I don't know who sells these in Rhode Island but beginning January 2011 I will be selling Bariatric Advantage (which Bariatric Choice includes in there product line) and other products they offer like Nectar (by Syntrax).

If I find anywhere that sells Celebrate of Bariatric Choice, I will be sure to let you know.

Meanwhile, check out their websites at www.celebratevitamins.com and www.bariatricchoice.com

Also, if you check out http://www.celebratevitamins.com/component/chronocontact/?ch ronoformname=sample you can get free samples for Celebrate!

And then of course my ALL TIME favorite website to by products...(she's also a WLS patient)! www.vitalady.com

I hope this helps!

See you at the next support group meeting!

Hi everyone,
I don't normally come into the RI forum, but I post a lot on the RNY forum.  I was wondering if any of youknow a place in RI that sells Celebrate or Bariatric Choise Vitamins?   Thank you for your help!

I opted for a gastric bypass.

First thing I did was go to a book store and purchase wls for dummys. It has so much info from phychological reasons to getting insurance to pay, what kinds of surgery are out there and which one would be better for you based on your personal issues and weight.

I used Dr Roye and his team out of RIH. They have clases that explain more thoroughly  what I had already learned from the book. Then Q & A. Then private meeting with Dr. in my case there was only one choice for me and I was happy with it.

I wanted something that had the best percentage for success. And that will stay successful for the rest of my life. I am loosing a little slower than some  but have other problems that prevents me from working out   as much as others do. Since April  20 I have lost 77LBS. and still loosing. Have not had any regain at any time. For me this is a lifetime commitment. Therefore I wanted something that helped throughout my life.
Good luck with deciding.
I suggest you continue reading this website as often as possible, it help get your head around it.

I chose the band because:

1.  I am a volume eater, which it is great for.
2.  I didn't want any kind of permanent alteration of my anatomy.
3.  I viewed the band as requiring the most behavior modification on my part, which I have eagerly embraced.

Remember, what works for one will not necessarily work for another.  Only you can make the decision that is right for you.  Research all types of WLS yourself -- don't rely on other people to decide for you.

Good luck to you!

Sorry if this has been asked a million times already. I am in very beginning stages of this process and trying to figure out which actual procedure would work best for me. What made you choose your procedure?

Good Morning

I had surgery Wednesday at Kent. Its Sunday AM and I feel fantastic. a little sore the first couple of days but feeling great now.

I cant express enough how great Dr. Colburn and the staff of Kent County Hospital treated leading up to surgery and during my short stay. Every single person I dealt with in the hospital was pleasant, caring and thoughtful.

Now its a matter of continuing to change the lifestyle and following the diet, i am already down almost 40 pounds since I began the process.
