Topic: RE: BPD Surgery, have you had this?
Hi Anna. My preop class is the 8th too!! So I'll be nice to meet you there
I'm having laproscopic surgery with Dr Ryder...she's in Dr Royes office. She did my gallbladder surgery in 12/08 and she was great and has been so patient and knowledgable all the way through so I'm excited that she's such a great surgeon. I am getting nervous too..my anxiety is a bit thru the roof! I haven't purchased anything yet for post op as I'm not really sure what I'll need so I'm waiting for the preop class next week and then heading to the market or GNC or wherever that afternoon once we get all knowledgable about what's to come.
Looking forward to meeting you & your husband there!
Happy Easter to you too.

Good Morning Melissa,
My class is on the 8th, and you? My husband is coming with me, hopefully. What have you stocked up on for your return home? I'm waiting for the class to be sure I'm on the right track. Have a list ready but still would rather wait
Is your surgery laparascopic or open? Dr. was going to do open, but now said he will try laparascopic. I told him I want it right not fast, he laughed and agreed wholeheartedly.
So I decided to rent an electric recliner for a few weeks after reading laying flat at first will be very uncomfortable.
How are you doing otherwise? I have had a day or two of the jitters, night is a little worse, but overall not too bad. My history includes 13 orthopeadic surgeries during the last 10 years due to cronic arthritis which put me out of work for good in 2000. I think with that history I know a little too much about the ways of surgery and recovery, ignorance really is bliss.
I'm rambling on here so will sign off for now, write often will you?
Have a happy Easter
Anna

Topic: RE: Got my Surgery date 4/16!
I woke up to the worst back pain ever! It was worse than the stiches! My back was so sore I was surprised! It is a huge adjustment at first.. everything takes time to get used to but just know that you will get through the restrictive crappy stages and one day soon you will be able to eat fairly normal. I do not dump but I cannot eat at all like I used to! I have tastes of different things and feel normal.
I am so happy with my results... went from a 46.3 (or something like that) bmi to 27 in one year!!! I want to lose anbother 25 lbs but am happy with where I am at.
