Topic: The 200's have arrived!!
Well its official, I AM IN THE 200'S FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE PROBABLY MY JUNIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL!!! It was nice to get on the scale at the gym this morning and only have to slide the big weight to 250, the the little one to 48, it sure beats having to slide to 300!! SO my "unofficial" weight is 298 today, wont get the next "official" number until mid June when I go see Dr. Roye again, Hopefully by then I will be close to the goal I have set of 250, its still alot to go, especially with 2 vacations planned, but I am sure I can get there, if not by that visit, shortly thereafter.
I just have to say to anyone out there that is thinking about WLS, it is a HUGE decision to make, but it is SOOOO worth it. It is very hard work, but the tool allows you to be able to make it work. I have lost 116 pounds since May 2009 and 100 pounds since October 15, 2009. Like I said above, I still have a ways to go, as my goal is 250, but I dont plan on stopping there. This surgery has allowed me to regain my life so to speak. I am able to go to the gym and not have to leave after 15 minutes b/c I cant breath or am to tired to continue. I can wear a seatbelt in the car the way it is suppose to be worn, instead of putting the chest strap behind my back. The steering whel doesnt touch my stomach anymore when I am driving. I can stand for long periods of time and walk a good distance and not have to worry about not being able to walk later that day or the next. And even more important than all those, it has allowed me to take an EMT class! Thats somethinng that I would have never been able to do when I was 400 pounds! SO has this been one of the best decisions I have ever made? ABSOLUTELY!!! The only decision that was better was asking my wife to marry me, she has been my biggest support through this whole process. SO once again, anyone considering WLS, do your research, ask your questions and make sure that you are prepared for the life changes that it will bring. As long as you do that and are well informed, you will do great!!

Topic: RE: LOST MY BAND ON VALENTINES DAY
Had my Band put in 4/07 and removed 5/08 due to unexplained abdominal pain. lost approx 80 lbs. He didn't give me any alternatives, he let me know that the band could not be replaced due to scar tissue. Let me go and told me that he was available should I need him again. I am not sure if he was performing the sleeve back then, its almost 2 yrs.
I have gained 50 lbs. back. I cry all the time because the band was my saving grace, I tried Medi-weight Lost and lost about 20 lbs but put it back. Tight now I am thinking of weight watchers for the 100th time. I cannot control portions, I don't have the power. This was the purpose of going drastic and having the surgery.
I would love to hear more about the sleeve and your progress.Hi NJ,
I'm brand new and yoiur is the first message I see. Yikes!!
I truly understand. I have just placed my foot on the surgery path. My fear is that the same thing will happen to me. If you will eccept advice from one who does not always practice what I preach . . . here goes:
I have learned two things that work for me when I remember to do them:
1. After I screw up, I . . . tell my wife, don't beat myself up, and try to get right back on the right track.
2. Sweets attract sweets. If I have something sweet, I am going to want more. After I "slip" I clear my mouth by brushing my teach and rinsing my mouth with listarine.
3. I ask my self if I am really hungry, or just compensating for something.
Obviously these do not always work. But when they don't it is my own fault--my "dark side" if you will. Sometimes it is months before I feel like starting to climb that mountain agin. Well here I am again. Maybe this time . . .

Got my Surgery Date - I know it'll come up fast! I'm getting a little anxiety over the whole thing but know I'm in GREAT hands with Dr Ryder. Anyone have any advice for the anxiety?

Topic: RE: Frustrated!
Hey Jenn, sorry you have gotten so frustrated. I know it can be. My advice for you would be to ask Dr. Giovanni for more of a fill and explain to her how you have been trying and getting discouraged. She wants you to succeed as much as you do. Open up and talk to her. Maybe she has a reason why she only filled a little. But the only way to find out is to talk. I am sure she will appreciate the honesty too. It will help in your relationship with your surgeon also. Good luck and let us know what happens! Eldy
