Topic: i'm almost there

hi everyone..

it's been awhile since i have been on...just thougt i would stop by to say hello, and check in on everyone.

i am almost at my goal...with ONLY 7 lbs to go!  i can not believe it...it almost here.  the last 15 have been soooooooo hard to rid... seeing after 110lb weight loss, i can see where that can happen.

i visited the NUT this past week, and she says i am doing well...dont have to go back now until i reach my goal for maintanence.she says i may pass my goal weight then come back up a few... but since i am only 7 months out, that might be a little while..usually dont know where you are going to stay until about a yr.

i hope all of you had an awesome holiday...and a very happy new year!  i am hoping to make it to the next meeting to see all of you, and your progress!!!

my husband bought me a treadmill for xmas, and can i tell you... I AM ADDICTED!!!! lol
it has definately got me off the plateau...woohooo!!!

hope to get some feed back and see how you all are doing...

take good care

Hi all just got back from GNC. I am really getting excited about my surgery. I got that ISOPURE juice. I am going to try it tomorrow. It is on sale 39.99 a case of 12 bottles Saving 10.00 a case. Thge lady was sooooo help full. Things are hard for me as I can not have lactose. I food out Whole Foods has lactose free protien bars and yogurt. Going to do my shopping sat. Any tips for surgery would be great. Of course at the Band-Aid group I had no questions but I do now LOL.
Do I bring my CPAP machine with me do I bring PJs and house coat. My mind is going 90 miles and hour :-) I am so glad to have the Band-Aid group thanks Julie for being so nice and making everyone feel so comfortable.Well I guess that is it for now. I am sure I will be on here alot before Feb 2. Thanks everyone for your support :-)

I had some pain, but I just used the pain meds offered and it helped big time. Sleeping, I slept on my back with  a pillow under my knees for a few weeks. Moving around helped the bloated feeling from the gasses the use to balloon up your belly insurgery. Incisions healed up in a month or two, but they were itchy!

Trust me, with the weight falling off so fast, you'll find a little bit of pain is a trifle!

I've heard this at my support groups & I can emphatically say I'm one of those who had no pain. None. When I started to get up & walk around I had this minor feeling like I'd done one too many sit-ups the day before, but that was IT. I didn't even take the meds they gave me to take home, any discomfort I had was taken care of with Tylenol (rapid release were the best).

The only pain I did have was a massive migraine from the combination of anesthesia & the fact that I was stupid enough not to give up my daily triple espresso before surgery, so my caffeine withdrawls were unreal. I got some Fioricet in the hospital to deal with that, and I was fine.

Dr Roye and Dr. Ryder are both excellent.  Both work out of RI Hospital.  I had Dr. Roye and he's the bomb!

All four of those docs are part of University Surgical in Providence.  I don't think Amaral is doing much bariatrics any more.  Cioffi is a trauma surgeon.  Ng I believe is vascular.  Harrington is bariatric.  Also part of University Surgical is Dr. Dean Roye and Dr. Beth Ryder.  I adore Dr. Ryder.  She trained with Dr. Roye whom I've heard is equally terrific.

PM me if you have any other questions.

Hi fellow RIers,

After moving back to RI from MA, I think I'd rather get a new surgeon/team than travel back and forth to the cape for appointments. Covered by my plan are ::

Amaral, Joseph F., MD
Cioffi, William G., MD
Harrington, David Tobin, MD
Ng, Thomas, MD

Who has had these docs? Are they pretty good? Have good teams and offices? I'm almost 4 years out and am working hard at both getting on track again, and also hope to work on making a family, so I feel I need to consult with someone in the know for post-ops.

Any information would be much appreciated!!
