Time for a chocolate protein shake...

Before the surgery I kept putting things off. I was never good enough. One of the benefits of WLS is that you start to believe in yourself. Check out my blog:

Make the protein shake with a tbsp of chocolate pudding added to it and some cocoa powder so it tastes really really chocolatey

I purposefully bought SF hersheys dark chocolate and reeses pb cup minis for just this reason. I only allow myself one of each and only once a day. Just that little bite of chocolate is enough to stop the craving monster in its tracks.

Thanks everyone....I broke down and bought the sf devil's food cake and sf chocolate icing. Yum. I made a pan of 24 minis and ate 3. So I'm good now. I'm going to take the rest to work tomorrow.

I personally allow myself one small sweet treat per day (one Hershey's kiss or a few M&Ms), so I am definitely not one of the folks who believes that doing this is "cheating"  BUT... I am 3.5 years out and I have to say that I am a little concerned that you are only two months post-op and are eating chocolate cake and icing.  (Yes, I know it's sugar free, but stilll...)

Because the caloric malabsorption from the RNY is only good for a year or so, and after that ytou will ahve only the small size of your pouch and your NEW eating habits to rely on to maintain your weight and avoid regain, it is really important that you take advantage of this time to truly learn new healthy eating habits and ways of dealing with the cravings (because the cravings will continue to come back and you will NOT be able to give in to them every time and NOT regain the weight).

Again, I am all for people finding what will work for them long term, and I believe that the old diet cycle of deprivation is just as insidious post-WLS as it was for us pre-op (that cycle of diet/deprivation/overindulgence/gain is part of what made us obese in the first place!), but -- IMO -- at only two months out you should be doing everything you can to find non-food or healthy food ways to deal with cravings.  Giving in so early after surgery just reinforces the old destructive patterns.

I keep weigh****chers chocolate candy in the freezer for these times.  you can play around with protein shake recipes to find something super chocolately that you like too.  But sometimes only candy/cake will do!

I used to keep 70% or more cocoa dark chocolate in broke pieces in my freezer for such time.
When you feel the need just nibble on a piece and then take your time to suck it to death.
My opinion is the bitter the better!  That way you want less of it lol
