UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGhhhhhhhhhhhh
Time for a chocolate protein shake...
Before the surgery I kept putting things off. I was never good enough. One of the benefits of WLS is that you start to believe in yourself. Check out my blog:
All Things CPAP
I personally allow myself one small sweet treat per day (one Hershey's kiss or a few M&Ms), so I am definitely not one of the folks who believes that doing this is "cheating" BUT... I am 3.5 years out and I have to say that I am a little concerned that you are only two months post-op and are eating chocolate cake and icing. (Yes, I know it's sugar free, but stilll...)
Because the caloric malabsorption from the RNY is only good for a year or so, and after that ytou will ahve only the small size of your pouch and your NEW eating habits to rely on to maintain your weight and avoid regain, it is really important that you take advantage of this time to truly learn new healthy eating habits and ways of dealing with the cravings (because the cravings will continue to come back and you will NOT be able to give in to them every time and NOT regain the weight).
Again, I am all for people finding what will work for them long term, and I believe that the old diet cycle of deprivation is just as insidious post-WLS as it was for us pre-op (that cycle of diet/deprivation/overindulgence/gain is part of what made us obese in the first place!), but -- IMO -- at only two months out you should be doing everything you can to find non-food or healthy food ways to deal with cravings. Giving in so early after surgery just reinforces the old destructive patterns.
