I did not have anyone at the hospital, but did have my brother who does not drive at home caring for my dog. My neighbor dropped me off Tuesday am super early and then he picked me up that Thursday morning to take me home. I did not have anyone set up to visit in the hospital. I was kind of out of it and spent all my time walking, drinking and sleeping. The time flew by for me and then I was home.

Good Luck!

Hello and I feel your pain, I am on day 10 of my liquid pre-op diet !!  I was doing great until today and the nerves are kicking in...... but you will make it....  I think you should ask all your friends... go ahead and do it, so if they want to do it, they can make arrangements with their job and it won't be a last minute thing.  Have you met anyone at any kind of support group or at the gym?  You would be surprised at how flattered someone might be if you ask?  I used to work in an Ob/Gyn office and there were times that we became kind of close to some patients.  Many of us went over to be with them when they had their babies, some were single parents and some of them were Military wives whose husband's were deployed..... so if you feel close to anyone at your bariatric doctor's office, ask, you never know.....  But the "OH" forum is always here if you need us!  Good Luck,  I have my surgery on Wed, so I will let you know how it goes for me!

I don't have a lot of friends.. but have mentioned it to a few of my closest ones.  Good luck with your surgery.. some days I don't think I'm going to make it through this diet.   I don't want to be one of those patients where they have to stitch you back up because the liver is too fatty or large.

Let me know how your surgery goes! :-) I'll be praying for you.

Please don't waste any time in asking one of your friends to help you! They'll need to put in for a day off, so start asking as soon as possible. I had a friend take me and it worked out great. I think if I had one of my family members do it, they would've freaked out some!

Good luck to you!

My mom drove me to the hospital, but I sent her home because she is disabled. She came to stay with me after the surgery, and I ended up taking care of her more than she took care of me. If you cannot find anyone to help you out, just have everything in place for yourself for when you get out of the hospital. Have all the laundry done. Have everything within reach so you do not have to stretch. Have a chair or night stand by the bed you can use to help you get out of bed. Have a lot of ice in the freezer because you might be one of the people that can only drink cold drinks. Go grocery shopping for all of your broth and Crystal Lite. I was honestly fine the day I got home from the hospital and even went to the grocery store for a few things I forgot, like sugar free Popsicles, which you should get now before they are out of season. Just stay positive, and all will go well. We are all here for you.
