Bummed out ...

 My surgery is September 13, and I'm already on my liquid diet from Hell (today is day 5) ....  Found out this morning that my support person (my sister) cannot be there for me surgery day. She lives seven hours away and is having car trouble. I don't really have a backup person. I don't want to ask my friends to take off work...  I'm just sad today. I am hoping it will work itself out. 

Aww that stinks you have 10 days... maybe mention it maybe a friend will voluneter to be with you?

 I may not know you, but if I lived in Tulsa, I would do it!  It's always nice knowing you will wake up to someone being there.  Mention it to a friend, you never know!!!

could you send your sister some bus $ so she can come down? Or perhaps you can go pick her up and bring her down? If not ASK a friend... there is NOTHING wrong with asking for help!

I live in toronto canada if I was closer I would come help you out...I am sure if we all would a friend would easily come and help you.

 I would go get my sister if I could, but I drive a two door sports car and cannot fit her and her seven children in my little car. Her husband works 12 hour days and doesn't have anyone available to watch her kids for that long. I  understand her issue.. I'm not mad that she can't be there, but I am sad about it. 

Can you send her some money to rent a van?

And do you really want her seven children hanging around while you're recovering from surgery? (Depending on how old/well behaved they are this may or may not be an issue.)

Are you on Facebook?  Maybe make "I need someone to XYZ" as your status?

 The kids were going to stay with my mom for a few days while my sister helps me out.  My mom can't make it either... but that's another story. 

Hopefully your sister can find a way to be with you but I wanted to say that I would gladly take time off from work to be with any number of my friends if they told me this story. Mention it to your friends and see what happens.

I also want to caution you not to wait too long for things to work themselves out because some docs won't do the surgery if you don't have a support person. And you definitely won't be allowed to drive yourself, take a bus, or take a cab. We HAD to have someone take us home who could be responsible for us.

I have mentioned it to a couple friends...  I know they will help if they can, but I won't be disappointed if they can't.  I believe it'll work out. 

I am so sorry you are bummed out today and I understand why! That sucks! You should pray about it! I'm sure a friend would like to help you. I wish I lived closer!
