Didn't realize Labor Day would be somewhat difficult

Today, I miss my old friend food.  We went to the beach (lovely) but kids got hungry, so of course asked for a burger.  DH decided he didn't want one, he would go home and cook a steak.  :(
I would have loved either.  I am craving red meat.  The BBQs going, the beer, the wine, the salads.  Oh me oh my.  I feel angry.  I feel sad.  My husband said he would support me and he is (in his mind), but he has ice cream at night, eats whatever and then cooks a steak.  I know I should not be mad at him.  I should not be mad at anyone.  I am thankful for this surgery.  I am thankful for the 16 pounds that are gone.  I am thankful today is 3 weeks since surgery.  I am thankful for this message board.
I just didn't realize the food thing would be tough.  I thought I wouldn't be hungry.  Oh well Labor day is Ovahhh.

You are going through the hardest part right now. It gets better when you can eat more normal foods.

I don't mean to laugh but this sounds more like thanksgiving than Labor day! So I am going to join you and say that I am very thankful that I am 11 weeks out and the hair is thin but still have enough to get by! I am also thankful that I was able to avoid the BBQ's and go to work. Although I really missed being with my family during the holiday festivities - I did not miss being around all that food. Think about the next holidays coming and plan something special for you!!
Sorry you had a tough day!!

I thought I wouldn't be able to eat steak again but tonight I marinated some sirloin steak I had cut thin and was able to try and keep down a few slices.  I had to take very small bites and chew it to mush.

PS I miss my old friend food too.

Lucky you!! I have tried red meat twice since my surgery and both times was awful! The first time was ground beef and I did not digest it well at all. The second time was filet mignon and it went down like butter, and stayed there! It appears as though I do not digest beef well at all now. I will try later but for now I'll pass.

I am 4 months out. I miss my pal food too. I am starting to get used to my new lifestyle change though. I dont even crave sweets. The only sweet I ever even want is ice cream. But other stuff, its weird, I dont even want. Pie, cakes, donuts, stuff like that. OH wait I do crave candy though like skittles and gummies.

Its over and you survived.... Giant hugs for that.  Honestly you did fantastic.... Of COURSE you are going to feel upset and angry you can't have things for a while...and then before you know it you will be able to partake in some of it and will feel satisfied....

Here is the good part.... summer long weekends are over and really from now through the winter you have only a few big meal time gatherings (assuming you celebrate things like thanksgiving, christmas, easter *** sorry if you are not).  By the time these come around you will be able to have a few things!

High Five girlfriend!!!  You did amazing.

Before surgery I LOVED my BBQ Steaks. I liked them cooked Medium. I have tried steak since surgery and they did not sit well at all. Last week Hubby cooked some steaks and instead of taking a piece of the thinner one I took a piece of the thickest one and it was more rare than medium and it was the best steak I've tasted in a long time and it stayed down!!! I had no problems with it. I also knew when to quit eating even though I wanted those last few bites I pushed my plate away and didn't over do it.

I'm thinking since it was not as dry as what I usually go for it was better on my pouch and easier for my body to handle.
