One Year Surgiversary

Sept 7, I will be one year out.  What a wonderful last year I have had.  I started my journey at 321lbs in size 28 jeans and 3x tops. High Blood pressure. borderline diabetic, depressed, high cholesterol, another 5 years I would more than likely be dead.  I had the surgery and have lost 143 lbs and would hope to loose another 20.  I am on the border of normal bmi and overweight.  size 12 jeans and medium tops.  No more health problems other than seasonal allergies.  My surgery has saved my life.  It is a tool, and I say tool because by itself it can not and will not work.  It is only a tool and what a wonderful tool it is.  I was amazed that I had and still do not have hunger.  Yes I get head hunger but have learned to fake it out with drinking water or going for a walk.  I do struggle everyday to get enough protein in, but that is not a high price to pay for my life.

The  most important thing in my first year was to learn new eating habits.  Going forward those new eating habits will be the most important thing for me to keep the weight off.  People may say that having surgery was the easy way out.  It was and still is the only way out for me. ( I weighed 100 lbs in kindergarten).

There are a few drawbacks to loosing the weight that I never thought of before,  The unsolicited attention of the opposite sex,  and now I do worry about walking after dark by myself.

Regrets, people always want to know what regrets I have,  Only one, not having the surgery 30 years ago.  I now realize how much life I missed and can never get back,  but look out world, I'm ready to play catch up!!

To all the people wondering about wls.  It is a major life changing tool.  You have to change your mental views on food as well as having the surgery.

Life is Good!!!!

Thank you to each and everyone that has posted on this board.  I do not post a lot, but I want to all to know how much help you were for me and still are.
