Vitamins that can be swallowed????????
You won't absorb the B12 in your multi because you don't have enough intrinsic factor in your pouch. That's why the ASMBS says we need a sublingual, nasal spray or injections.
And the Opurity multi does have iron, but not as much as the ASMBS says we need.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Even if you no longer have periods, keep an eye on your iron levels. Many of us -- like me -- can get by with no iron initially, but eventually the level starts to drop and we need the supplements. Whatever you do, do NOT let it drop too low before you add the supplements because it can be very difficult for us to get our iron levels back up again once they tank.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Taking whole tablets with plenty of water is least irritating, as long as you can swallow them ok. Some people with no WLS have trouble with pills.
Crushing, or taking them with very little water can actually be very irritating, since it will just sit in your pouch or sleeve.

Very informative. I was told by my nut that all I needed was the one chewable pill. I think I'll order some of the b12 and iron and start taking a multi-vit that I can swallow. I go for my 3 month check in a month and the doc will be running labs then so we'll see how well I do.

Here is what I am currently taking. Thorne Research Medipro Multi Compete with Iron. You have to take it three times per day but they are called veggie capsules. My reg. dietitian said that we can swallow these because they dissolve very quickly. I havent had blood work yet post-op but you can look into it. My suggestion is to make sure it goes down...one time it didn't go all the way down and I felt like it was stuck in my throat...gross!
Oh thanks, will look into it. I am getting used to things getting stuck.
