Good Morning! Oof it's chilly this morning. Thankfully I don't need to leave any time soon. Later I am going out to buy myself a new phone and get some blinds for the room I will use as my home office.

My mom's surgery went well. She had a hooded eyelid lift and the poor thing looked like someone punched both her eyes out when I took her home. She'll be black & blue for a few weeks, but hopefully it helps her vision. It didn't take as long as we had anticipated, so I was able to come back early and Grim and I went out to a very late lunch / early dinner for Valentine's Day :)

He also bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, whi*****luded a special carnation, to make up for the HS boy who didn't get me one. He's a keeper! I am not a keeper, however. I will let him tell you the less cute story about these flowers!

QOTD: Do you know what other names your parents considered for you? I was going to be Jeremy if I was a boy, haha.

Good morning all. Happy half price candy day! We're going to pick out blinds, or shades, or something. I think I've only been to Home Depot or Lowes twice in the last few months. They sent someone out to do a wellness check last week.

QOTD: My first name was always going to be John. My uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather were all Johns. They all had the same middle name. I do not. My mother really disliked it, so my middle name is different, and my grandmother was apparently not happy. It may have been the last time my father didn't get his way.

QJB has more wonderful qualities than I could ever list. She does, however, have a few gaps. For instance, when I was laid up the first few weeks after knee surgery, she asked me if I was her elf. I am seldom described as elf-like, so I asked why. She asked if I normally followed her around closing doors, drawers, cabinets, turning off lights, etc. Yes, that is usually a big part of my day. The woman never closed a cabinet or drawer in her life. But she never noticed until I stopped doing it.

Anyway, she has a . . . Lack of awareness. So when I got her flowers and put them in a vase on the kitchen table, I was curious to see if she would notice. She did not. I won't embarrass her by saying how much time elapsed, but it was not brief. I finally started prompting her to see if she could tell what was different in the house, and she wandered for a bit before she saw it.

When my house was being built my friend said to get the soft close doors and drawers. They are awesome but not as awesome as an elf that would close them for me.

They are soft close! I built new drawers and put top of the line soft close guides on them. And new hardware on the doors! But they aren't magic. You have to close them part way.

I am just picturing it tiny JB going through kitchen opening and not closing, and tall John walking behind her closing everything.

You and my husband must be brothers lol! He is constantly traipsing along after me, shutting cabinets, closing doors, putting my clean laundry in conspicuous places so he can do his, closing the sunroof in my car...the list is endless!

He also came home with roses last Friday. 3 dozen. He fashioned them into what he called a "rose tower" and put them next to the tv. He had to ask me if I smelled roses THREE TIMES before I saw them lol!

I may have married the most patient man alive now that I think about it!
