This is week 2 of 6 before my revision. It's not easy nor did I expect it to be. However, I did believe that people would get the reason for my latest surgery.
We live in a world that hates to admit food is an addiction. Even after being in treatment by having WLS; Food is the only legal drug we need to take every day that is also prohibited. People judge eachother by what they do/do not eat. For me, lifestyle choices like, becoming a "pescatarian; " requires more than will power. I have to be up for daily battles. Often, people don't get it. I do and I will.
I just had revision 1/12/19 and have been miserable ever since. I don't want to scare you but I guess the reality is crap can and does happen. They got the anvil instrument stuck in my esophagus. Caused trauma and excessive swelling, and they also tore the diaphragm and gave me a hiatal hernia. Have vomited 5-6 days a week for almost 2 months now. Having an EGD for dilation tomorrow at noon. The hernia is another surgery, but I can't even think of that now. I just wonder how much of this misery should be on the surgeon. Good luck, ask many questions.
The biggest thing that people forget is "obesity is a disease." With that in mind, sometimes relapse is part of the healing process. I would like see to also the data on people who just give up. Shame often stops individuals from seeking help. Don't let shame keep you away from your best health. Seek professional help. That is what I am doing presently.
Well, I can tell you that I DID get a boost to my weight loss. I'm back to my heavy weight-lifting and am now training for a Spartan race in 2020. The ulcer thing is something I have to watch always since apparently I'm prone to them and have silent symptoms. Insurance is a mess and I'm in hock to my eyeballs...but I'm here to enjoy the sunrise and hear my new grandsons giggles. Life is GOOD!
I hope things go well for you...I am pretty hyper about my protein and vitamins as I know how vital they are. Let me know how you're doing!
It's a scary thing, so what you're feeling is completely normal.
I've never had a feeding tube and I've got only about 5% of my stomach tissue left. FWIW, after I healed I felt/feel no differently than I did with 100% of stomach tissue intact. It's not something I've really even thought about other than when explaining cat scan results and such to docs.
Good luck, I hope they can remove all of the ulcerous tissues because that pain is debilitating.
I have an upcoming revision due to ulcers. I had a perforated ulcer in the summer of 2017. My surgeon repaired the perforation but have had reoccurring ulcer since then, thus my upcoming revision. How are you? I hope well. I'd appreciate any advise ss I am very concerned about nutritional intake afterwards.
Yes, they are removing the bad tissue.
I'm concerned about nutrition and the pain afterward. I will have a feeding tube in my belly for several weeks.
And yes, I hope to lose a other 25 pounds.
I'll start off on clear liquids etc.
I'm just scared.
