Oh Chris - sounds miserable. Are you allergic to some of the meds you've been put on? Hives cannot really be fixed topically.....

oh oh oh I got that too.. I scratch the living dickens out of my legs. thought I was alergic to the red dye in the crystal lite, but after several weeks, it went away, think it had to do with the compression cuffs or something. caladryl worked wonders for me.

I hate to say this, but my mother had something similar. She has surgery and then started iching like crazy. First her legs and then weeks later, her arms. We found out later that she caught mites at the hospital....Ahhhhhh! Doc said it was very common. Dont know if thats what you have but you might want to look into it. My mother was at one of the best hospitals in California too, so it can happen anywhere

There's also the possibility of itching due to dry skin, but hives makes it allergic or bites of some kind, I think. Call the doc and ask, that's what all those nice ladies are there for!

Are you still taking pain meds? The most common side effect of any morphine/codeine type drug is itching.  For some people it doesn't start right away...just a thought.
