Good Morning Y'all... I'm new to the train so I'll just say Hi and take a seat.  I will be having surgery (RNY) July 30th with the wonderful Dr Barker.  Am getting very anxious about what I'll be able to eat afterward as I have very discerning taste buds (meaning they prefer chocolate, pasta and Diet Coke).  I'm studing and trying to learn everything I can so I go into this prepared.  I'm so glad I found you...It will be nice to make new friends along the way. Stephanie

Welcome, Stephanie!! Take a window seat, grab a frosty beverage and tell us more about you.  You will find this group very supportive, feisty at times, very opinionated and very loving!!!  If you have questions, ask away. As far as what you will be able to eat it's probably easier to tell you what I DON'T eat - no refined sugar [splenda only], breads/pastas/rice is LAST on the plate so that I get all my protein and complex carbs [veggies] before any of the other stuff.  I don't do sodas [never was a soda drinker], little to no caffeine.   Other than that, I just eat healthy - 6 - 8 oz of protein a day + 2 servings of dairy + 1-2 veggies + 0-1 fruits.  If I do eat pasta, bread, etc, it's whole grain and overall my daily goal is to get 70-80 gms of protein and 80-100 oz of water plus 30-40 minutes of exercise, even if it's extra walking around the parking lot at work. Don't sweat the eating part but do try to gradually cut out the refined sugar and step up water and protein intake before surgery - you will feel much better for it!!!  Oh, and always follow your doctor's program - it's in place for a reason - so YOU can be successful!!!

Welcome to the train Stephanie!  We love seeing new riders!   Congratulations on your surgery date!  We'll slide over and make room for you on the losers bench!  Don't worry about what you'll eat, when you talk to your nutritionist, they'll let you know what is ok and what is not.  I can tell you that chocolate, pasta and Diet Coke are not on the list!!    And don't worry, even tho it seems like you're eating liquids forever, it's only two weeks (usually) and it's over before you know it.  Don't rush into solid foods too quickly.  There is a support group meeting this Saturday if you're in the Fort Worth/Arlington area at the Rise and Shine Cafe on Alta Mesa Blvd near McCart in Wedgwood if you're interested.  Lots of great people and you can get all of your questions answered in person!  Look for a post from Jack in Weatherford. Again, congratulations on the date for your surgery and don't be a stranger on the train!!

Good morning train riders!!!  Is everyone ready for the weekend??  I sure am!!  Yesterday my sinuses decided to kick my butt, and I ended up leaving work early and crawling into bed all evening.  Luckily it appears that Tylenol sinus meds and several hours of sleep have tamed them some.  Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!!! New glasses, new hair cut, and hopefully a new outfit are my plans for the day tomorrow.  Then of course dinner with the best people in town!!! My water therapy has been cancelled though, ugh!!!  Seems the hospital decided to do some construction in the pool area and now it's a total mess and they don't want patients coming in there until they are done.  Soooooooo, since I can't do the official therapy I have to see if I can tolerate the pool water at my in-laws house and at least continue with what I remember.  Knees are getting better though, so maybe I just needed those three sessions to get started. Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!!! Debbi

Hi Debbi!!!! Can't wait to see the "new you" pics after this weekend.  Sorry to hear that your water therapy was cancelled.  Hope you remember enough to do it at your in-laws pool.  Good luck!  And, enjoy the dinner tomorrow night!! Susan

My first time to actually climb on board.  I've been reading everyone's posts every day and love them.  Summer school started for us this past Wednesday so I'm back to enjoying two hours on an unairconditioned school bus -- twice a day.  I don't mind though.  I really enjoy my job.  Some people say I'm crazy, I just say I'm a glutton for punishment.  lol. We have Fridays off during the summer, so I've probably got more work to do today than in any other day.  lol.  Mowing, cleaning, taking care of the birds, etc.  Oh, well, it's a day off that I can enjoy at home.  I've not started on this journey -- exactly -- just yet.  I'm still waiting on my first appointment with the surgeon (July 24th).  I am also waiting, not so patiently, for my pcp to get back into our country so i can talk with him about the 6 month pre-cert diet (grrr, after all I've been through, you'd think I've already done that).  I am proud to say that I can get 64 oz of water in usually before noon (of course I have the bigger stomach and can gulp it still).  The bad side of that is that I'm addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper and usually reward myself with one Route 44 Diet Dr. Pepper in the evenings -- only if I've finished my 64 oz of water.  I know I need to take more water in, but hey, I've gone from drinking nothing but the Diet Dr. Pepper to drinking at least tha****er.  Pretty good for doing that since December.  I do understand, luckily, that I will have to give my drink up once I have the surgery.  I may cry over that, but getting this weight off is more important than my addiction.  Oh, well.  Not sure what else to say here, but I'm glad to become a part of this forum.  I really enjoy reading your posts.

Welcome to the Express Debra!!!!  Nice to have you aboard and riding along with us.  Now we know who to get to drive on the days when David is MIA!!  You've got experience driving with unruly passengers!   We've got a couple of trouble makers on board, but I'm not naming names..... WTG on starting to make some behaviour modifications prior to surgery. Everything you can do beforehand helps.  Maybe you can cut back on the Dr. Peppers to one every other day?  Slow and easy.  Pretty soon, you won't even think about them! Again, welcome aboard. Hope to see you posting LOTS!!!! Susan

David!  Congratulations to Sheila on getting a new job!  Unfortunately, with the price of gas, a tank might use up the raise in pay!! And you may not get to play ball tonight.  50% chance of rain through 7 pm tonight.  Slight chance tomorrow but it'll be up in the 80s so the dinner will probably be muggy on the porch, but it'll be worth it! I got a three week reprieve at work.  The (butt) finance manager said I could stay up here for a while longer, until the regular manager comes back.  We'll see what's going to happen after that.  I'm putting in for a couple of jobs that I hope I'll have a good chance at.  I also have a personal recommendation for both, so keep your fingers crossed!! I was so glad to see Que post about Tom and herself.  They are going through some trying times, so everyone keep them in your prayers!  I know they'll get through this tho. Well, I guess I'd better get back to work.  If you're a lurker, stop!  Post on here, we love to hear from you!! Love to all!   And I'm back down a pound!!
