Should I refuse the pain pump?
One of the things I've been told is that I'll be given a pain pump when the surgery is done. But I really don't want one. With my third c-section, they took the pump away in about 8 hours because I never pushed the botton. With my fourth c-section, I took no pain medications (refused them all) and was just fine and walking within 18 hours of surgery.
Do I really *need* a pain pump?
I really do NOT like the feeling I get from pain medications and I react to both demerol and codeine, so I had morphine for my 3rd c-section. I did NOT enjoy the sensation.
Just wondering and hoping for opinions.

I know what I need to do - I have to choose to take care of me or I choose to fail
Girl you have had 4 C-Sections and survived 2 of them without pain meds? You DON'T need the pain pump if you ask me! My C-Section pain was a lot worse then my Lap RNY. Sheesh - you give me strength sister - I think you are one tough chica! WOW! I had the On-Que pain pump and it just delivered meds through this orb looking thing. I honestly don't know how well it worked but it fell out 3 days after surgery so I didn't have to live with it for long. I think if you can deal the pain of C-Sections a RNY may just be a breeze for you! Good luck and let us know how it goes!
