Questions I forgot to ask my surgeon
Am thinking of things I should have asked but didn't think of....
1) will I be able to still take communion at church after surgery? Consists of a sip of red wine and a piece of bread (not wafers). If so, how soon after surgery?
2) can I still scuba dive? Can't think of any reason why not, but a coworker said she heard it was a no-no.
Thanks.

1) The amount of wine and bread you take at communion should not make a difference even immediately after surgery. When you eat the bread, just remember to chew it until it's basically gone. Good luck figuring out how to log it in your food log, though!
Note: this is not a license to eat bread and drink wine early after surgery.
2) I think you would want to avoid scuba diving for a while after surgery, just to make sure your incisions heal. But once you are cleared to start strength training again (6 weeks for most people), I would think scuba diving would be just another good form of exercise.

You can take communion once you're cleared for regular food-not before then.
Scuba diving is fine once you're completely healed and up to the physical part. You will be weak and tired for a while but certainly by 5-6 months out.

RNY revision from lapband 7/30/07...TT/BL 10/9/08 and at GOAL
personally at 3.5 years out I have given up on communion and just go to the alter and have the priest blesss me. I have tried several times and the wafer gets stuck and thw "wine", my church uses port which has avery high alcohol content, buzzes me! I would wait till at least Doc has you at the full stage of eating also ask him his thoughts. Remeber God loves and blesses eveyone and he will not fault you for not taking communion! He knws yourdietary situation and I am quite sures he would be would forgive you!! Doc will give you the clearance on the scuba thing just ask him when!!
