Canadian VSG Surgeons
Hi - I was wondering who out there had their VSG done in Canada? I have been thinking about going to Mexico, or maybe Dr. Gagner in Florida but there is nothing as good as being at home. Sounds silly I know but it would be nice to stay here if I can - Everything is just a WestJet flight away LOL. Anyway if any of you have had your surgery in Canada (ANY PROVINCE) could you let me know the name of your surgeon and a bit about your experience?
Thanks! J
Thanks Josee_France, I think I will be self pay, there is no way I am going to wait for BC Medical to approve me but if you know how to start looking for surgeons I would appreciate the help. I have just been goggle-ing the odd name I came across on here and sometimes I can't even find the doctor at all!

If you go on this site, you will find my dotor and his information. The problem is, it is all in French but if you want, I can translate it for you.
Click on Les Chirurgiens, my doc is Dr. Henri Atlas.
This is the best thing that could have happened to me. I have not lost weight in 10 years and now, since the surgery 2 months post op, I have lost 31.2lbs since surgery, 10lbs prior with the optifast for a total of 41.2lbs total.
I went from a size 24 to 18 and I am really getting my energy level up!
Hope this helps.
Hi I had my surgery free of charge in Halifax. I had two great Doctors. If you go to my site you will see my review about the surgeons. I am 1 month out and doing great! I am down 22lbs, and have not thrown up once, I had basically no pain post-op, and I just finished my first week of stage 4 (pureed/ground/diced) and have had no problems tolerating any of the "allowed" food. I hope you will be able to find a surgeon. The VSG is amazing, I am so happy that I had this surgery. I was going to have the lap-band in Moncton...but they started doing surgeries in Halifax again so I got in there. I am happy I got this one because I have heard so many problems with the lap-band. I was never totally comfortable with having an implant either! No regrets at all for me. Although I must admit being on full liquids for 3 weeks got very hard and tiring, but I survived!!
Good Luck!!
